Yeah, the problem is mostly that it has bunched elastic at the back that draws it in on the waist, but just some added padding fixes it completely - it's not like the cut of the jumpsuit prevents the fix.

Anyone have a side-by-side picture of the SS with the Marmit?

This is my modded Marmit next to my SSC (the SSC is a bit taller than 12".)

Perfect, thanks. That really shows the difference in the tailoring and crispness of details.

Yeah, while the Marmit is more accurate in terms of helmet/chestbox sculpt, there really is no comparison in terms of detail and finish. Even with the minor inaccuracies, the SSC is really one of the best troopers SSC has ever done. The helmet detail - even under magnification - is incredibly well done.

Most of the Marmits are remarkably accurate (the Marmit Sandie sculpt is more accurate than the HT) - especially for being 15 years ago - but they all suffer from that lack of finer detail.

Agreed, marmit was fantastic for its time and price, but Sideshow version is much nicer, overall...

Agreed, but from what I recall, the belt had little room to 'let it out'

One thing worth mentioning (that I may do with my custom ATAT driver) is that the high gloss on the SSC and HT (HT stormie for example) really helps sell the realism, so adding something like Pledge for high gloss on any the Marmits would probably help bring them closer to the modern day figures.

You'll notice my Marmit ATAT is kind of semi-gloss/slightly dull whereas the SSC one is very high gloss.

By the way, I'm still planning to do a minor resculpt of the SSC helmet's "eyes" to fix them - they look a bit too much like sunglasses for my liking. The Marmit sculpt has the correct shape.

Yeah, that's right - a bit of custom skills needed to fix it.

Yes the belt was a tight fit. It needs to be gently massaged out. There is some room to stretch it but you need to be careful. Doing that and some tissue around the waist and you're all done.

I was watching ESB over the weekend for the thousandth time. While watching the Rebel shield generator get blown up on Hoth I noticed that the 2 AT AT Drivers had a downward orange arrow on the back of there helmets. This doesn't appear on the sideshow figure. Is this an oversight by Sideshow or is there some other explanation?

So, there were only two costumes made for ESB - both modified ANH Tie Pilot helmets and suits.....but to give the illusion of more than two, they production added a red strip (tape) down the back of the helmets. In one scene they are there, in another, which is supposed to be another At-At, they are not....

Good stuff Freaks! I knew that I could count on you guys to come up trumps :wink1:

I always thought the AT AT that Veers was on was the one that smoked the shield generator? "Target maximum fire power" and all that. Oh well, guess I've been
wrong all these years :lol

Always wondered if Lucas hadn't limited the costume budget what kind of all new At-At Driver may have been designed? But, would it have been as iconic looking?

Just waiting on hopefully a May 4th sale at a local supplier + rewards to pounce on this guy. He looks awesome but is just a smidge pricey for me to consider at full price. Fingers crossed there's enough stock!
