Hey all. So I'm late to the collecting game am searching for an Iron Man comiquette.

So my question is what is a realistically good price for a classic and a stealth? Regular vs exclusive price? Have seen some crazy prices on eBay...

Edit: The Iron Man Comiquette....not the Iron SPIDER-MAN Comiquette. I misread your thread title.

Hmm interesting. When was this released?

Oh, scratch that. Iron Man Comiquette, not Iron SPIDER-MAN Comiquette. ....I've got Iron Spider-Man on the brain. :lol

I honestly don't remember when this was released/shipped. I think Summer of 2006 for the Red/Gold Version. Can anybody confirm this?

I would go for the Stealth Comiquette over the Red/Gold Version because of all of the frauds out there. The recasters are REALLY getting good at mastering this one. It's not worth the risk in my opinion.

As for price, if I had to buy another Stealth Comiquette, I would pay $500 shipped for a MINT, MINT, MINT one. If I was to buy the Red/Gold Comiquette, I would look for an Exclusive. As for price, I think a board member bought one the other day for @ $900 shipped. (Don't quote me on that though.)

And to further emphasize my point, here's a quote from another board member made recently concerning a Red/Gold Ex.

I spent $800 on a Sideshow Ironman EX, but recently (like, a month ago) found out it is a fake because it has the aluminum, round foot peg. I compared it to an authentic one at the local hobby shop and the ONLY difference is the neck/foot pegs and the gold is a tiny, tiny bit darker. The arm on mine is the same height, it came with the grey "SIDESHOW" stamped styrofoam, and the brown shipping box.

Since I am the one that got ripped on the Sideshow EX Iron Man, I would obviously avoid the red & gold unless you know FOR A FACT that it is authentic and know the person you are buying it from very, very well. I bought mine off eBay last October for $800. I tried to do my homework and ask "all the right questions" for common signs of a fake; I wasn't aware at the time that fakes usually have round footpegs or aluminum head pegs and I am assuming that it is just a matter of time before they figure out to put in copper neckpegs and a square/copper footpeg. The guy I bought it from swore up and down that he bought it from his local comic shop.

  • Its arm is the same height as an authentic one
  • It has the GREY, SIDESHOW stamped sytrofoam
  • It has the printed (with the big, red X) SIDESHOW shipping box
  • the paint apps almost exactly match the authentic one. I took both heads to the local hobby shop to compare and the ONLY difference is the gold is a tiny, tiny bit darker. (The one at the local shop is not an EX)

I still like it, and it looks near-identical to the original, but I was thinking of writing FAKE with a sharpie on both boxes and at the bottom of the base and selling it on eBay. I just don't want it getting turned around and resold as authentic.

I saw your other post last night, Kibishii. I'm still amazed that a recaster has gone to those lengths to imitate the real thing. I'm sorry to hear about that. I hope everything works out.

Sorry to hear that dude...that really does suck. Well I might just go with the stealth version if I can. :/

Wise choice. And you won't be disappointed at all. The light-up feature on that one is truly amazing.

Sounds like the safest bet at this point. Has there currently been no documented fakes of the stealth? And i heard about minor paint issues with them...what would be the areas to watch out for when getting one?

There hasn't been any fakes from what I've heard. (Not yet anyway.)

As for paint issues....this piece is the epitome of paint issues. There are mint ones out there, but very few compared to the overall edition size. Issues include: paint rubs, paint rubs, paints chips (especially on the fists and feet,) and paints rubs.

But again, I don't want to sound too negative because many of the damaged ones are still in great condition. Many of the marks aren't too noticeable. If you hold out long enough, a NM/M one with pop up somewhere.

Overall, an awesome piece. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the pointers bro. The search for one continues then!

Do what I did, and buy a stealth iron man and repaint it with a Mark 3 armor :D
