The musculature was the first thing I noticed. If it was toned down, then it would be an easy purchase for me.

If this was in line with the games it would do better. But it just doesn’t look right with the recent WW and Supes.

If it's a question of liberties, Wayne was never in feudal Japan. Then again gaslight was a concept too. Worthy of a pf though?

Hey man your opinion is ok. I get the angle were Your looking at from also. I just love that Samurai piece to death. Something a little different than the norm I guess.

I had the xm samurai. In terms of quality it was great. It just wasnt batman to me so I sold it.

Definitely not a classic Batman for me either, but I'm keeping my XM Batman as a modern Batman statue.

Still need a fully sculpted 1/4 scale classic Batman, I was hoping this new PF would be it. However, the more I look at it the more I'm leaning against it.

Yeah I know what you mean, I think for the money etc I had to really really want to keep it. Great piece all the same

Well at least you must of sold it at a profit. As that piece is on par as of now with Cable dollar for dollar

I have a feeling with the new Asian themed animated Batman movie coming out soon the XM line will get a lot more popular.

IMO any increase in popularity will be short lived. The samurai line is really niche and won't have long term broad appeal. I highly doubt in 10 years folks are going to be clamoring for samurai batman statues vs the comic versions, but we'll have to wait and see.

I think collectors are either open to different interpretations of characters or they're not. I'm not sure why that would suddenly change in 10 years.

I probably wasn't very clear. I was simply pointing out that the samurai pieces may really just be a short term "fad" that doesn't have staying power. We all know the comic versions have long lasting appeal, but these niche interpretations may come and go with little desirability over time.

You may be right, but I think the niche pieces are what will stand out over time.

There's no way to tell for sure how these pieces will stand over time. The XM Rising Sun Batman is no exception. It could go either way really ...no body knows.

That's why when deciding to buy it at initial PO, I made sure the XM Batman was a piece I liked and will like for a long time. Its for me ...I don't have to worry about if its going to be popular (or sought after) later or not.

I still can't fathom Sideshow's thinking on this. It's Batman so it will sell but even so feels like a kick in the teeth for those wanting a true comic Batman in 1/4 scale.

Now those collectors have to do without or make the jump to 1/3 scale. 70+ years of material to choose from so why do Sideshow think their own twist is needed?

Prime 1 listen and give collectors what they ask for, maybe it's time Sideshow gave that radical idea a go.
