i was thinking the same thing, not that it bothers me. im still trying to figure out whats what in the statue world. what is considered high? if i had to guess without any real knowledge, im thinking 5K for this Obi? i think Rex will be lower just beause ppl may be put off on the price point.Going off the best sellers list, think this PF is going to have a high edition size, Rex has been high as well, think they both might have more than Windu.

How long does SS usually take before they announce ES'?
Overall, it turned out great, but I agree that were was some detail in the headsculpt that got lost in production. And, like most human sideshow pieces, those sculpts need a repaint.
I am a bit on the fence whether to keep this or not as I also have the Blitzway Episode III Obi-Wan and Anakin statues on pre-order. Do I need another Obi-Wan? If I keep it, I'll put the Ewan head on until the Blitzway statues arrive and then switch out to the Alec portrait, which I think turned out slightly better...
I've pretty much decided to keep it at this point. I think it's a great looking piece and is unique enough that I'd regret not having it in my collection. I'm also one of those OG PF collectors who loves the mixed media and this one is very well done. Since the only Alec Obi-Wan statue I have is the original PF dueling Vader, this will be a welcome upgrade.Right? I think there was a lot lost.
Funny, I don't see much or any at all in Mace's sculpt from their unboxing a few weeks back.
Maybe delay payments for a month or 2 and see some more unboxings from other collectors?
I think this was the most hyped one of the 3 that was revealed last year for May 4th (Rex, Mace) yet it might be the most disappointing?
to my huge surprise.. I agree with sassafras. That's the first time in a million years..
But yes, I love it as well, and can't wait to have this piece in my studio!
My shelves are very well lit, but from directly above and typically slightly behind the statue so the shadowing does really help. I never thought about it until this thread and commentary but my accidental placement of the LED pucks in that way has really helped my display quality.I have many Sideshow statues, going back to their Universal Monsters line.. I've seen their worst, and their best.
At its best, their mass production statues can be as good, or even better than the prototype.
Even though paint job is essential, and very important to me, I still like this one.
Also kind of personal reason, because I draw the Obi-Wan comic, wearing this exact attire.
It's a good thing for you to have dark shelves to throw shadows on your collection, it really helps to hide something like this, or if you have figures that lack details.
I keep my shelves well-lit because I truly enjoy looking at the small details, but it can be a problem if there's some issue with the figure/statue because I can easily spot it.
If it bothers me that much, I will touch up the skin tone on this piece.. I don't have any issues with the rest of it.![]()

Yeah I use puck lights or other small lights depending. I like the play of light and shade on the collection. Or carefully lighting a key area. My WETA pieces get more light for their details, like Eomer. My shelves are very well lit, but from directly above and typically slightly behind the statue so the shadowing does really help.
