Not really sans coat. His shirt is pretty simple, the vest isn't too elaborate, the pants are just pants. Not taking anything away from the tailors on the PF or anything, but visually I'd consider the portrait and base more complex than his costume. Particularly with it being based on Curse, no double belts, minimal belt trinkets. Costume wise, this PF is as simple as you can get with Jack Sparrow.

Blackbeard's costume is much more ornate and detailed.

I like the look of this PF. I'll wait for the final reveal (and subsequent price point) to determine if I pull the trigger to make this my first non SW or Indy PF.

Seeing as I'm relatively new to collecting, will we be seeing more preview pictures of this PF before the preorder becomes available? I love the look so far, but if I'm gonna drop the $350 you guys are talking about, I'd like some more pics of the statue first. Just wondering if and when they could be released.

Usually Sideshow post pics of a PPo item on Wednesday afternoon so keep an eye on it and check the website on Wednesday. I will be there too...

Dave you posted this in the ask sideshow section. Do you really think because people are critiquing this piece that they hate it? People are always going to question a likeness. To say that they hate it is incorrect.

I wanted a different opinion from fresh eyes and she says it is one of the best things she ever seen. She also thinks that the Cm Jack looks nothing like him.....

Well I asked my brother. He said the SS PF looks like Russell Brand, and couldn't believe a company were potentially going to charge $400 for this. He also thinks the CM looks just like Depp.

Then I asked my Dad. He said he thought the SS PF looks like Russell Brand. He also couldn't believe it when I told him there were some imbeciles who thought the PF was more convincing than the CM.

Then I asked my cat Mr Scratch: "meow, meow, meow, meow meow" he said, which roughly translates to "never believe the words of someone who claims to have spoken to a friend/relative/pet* (delete as appropriate) about a collectible. It's probably fictitious, in order to make an ill-judged point".

There you go. Another opinion and I think after we see the whole thing, we'll be happy with it. So says my wife....

I doubt they'll change anything. They have made tweaks in the past, most notably the Count Dooku PF. However I think that was originally put up for order with a "Prototype pending approval" so if this doesn't have that I doubt it will happen.

The eyes really seem to be the only thing I personally feel needs to be changed, they just need to squint a bit more. I really think that its the hair throwing the sculpt off.

They changed the Iron Man MK 1 Maquette for the better.

Not pathetic at all. In fact very very accurate. Bullseye I suggest you wipe that rather large chip off your shoulder and leave your opinions on statue forum where you can feel like a god and erase what you don't like.

That's very true. Erick Sosa sculpted the original portrait but I think Trevor sculpted the replacement portrait which was an improvement. Eric himself even admitted that.

CM Jack FTW.

Unless you've seen a good one in person then there is no question. The Jack PF is a decent statue for the line though. Not a complete failure like Bruce Lee PF.

Neither sculpts look 100 per cent to me I'm afraid. I think I'll be sticking with my two HT 12" versions. Cheaper too.

I do like the sculpt that my friend did for Tussuad's though, although once again they chose a neutral expression which doesn't shout Jack as well as it could have.

I don't think he was totally happy with the end result, so he'll be pleased to hear you liked him.

They sent original copies of his costume across for them to copy across, which helped.

I can live with ths sculpted hair, but why not add a real cloth headwrap? And let's see some "real" leather boots! C'mon SS, take it to the next level!

I don't hate the piece, I LOVE it! I just want it to look the best it could possibly look by the time it finally ships!

You sure the PF is based on Curse? I didn't think he sported dreads in the first film.

His hair was the same in all the movies. What makes it based on curse is the single belt with no trinkets and the simpler buckle on his scabbard, though the scabbard color doesn't match the movie. We'll see what the full piece looks like this week, but bluer pants is also a difference between Curse and the sequels.
