Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

This is going to come down to price for me. There is no way I am paying near $400 for this! If it is significantly cheaper or if
I see a better resemblence down the road, then I may change my mind. I have a feeling I will be waiting with many others for Premium format #2.

And I feel that someone need glasses ! :D

I'm not a fan of this version, but I am a big fan of using all cloth, leather and even "real" hair. At 1/4 scale SS should not have to sculpt the headwrap, boots or hair. I can live with ths sculpted hair, but why not add a real cloth headwrap? And let's see some "real" leather boots! C'mon SS, take it to the next level!

I think the PF has a better likeness than the CM, can't wait to see full pics of the PF.

And has it been confirmed they are making two PFs of Jack?

Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

Considering Blackbeard is $400 and isn't a licensed item like Disney, and Jack likely having an elaborate base and all, I'd expect him to come in around $350-$400.

I have a feeling there's going to be a real ____ storm when people see the price.

Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

OKay guys...here's the deal...

My wife who had never seen the PF photo thought it was a picture of Johnny Depp as Jack. She thinks the PF looks exactly like him and I pointed about a couple of things here and there, she said it still looks just like him...

I wanted a different opinion from fresh eyes and she says it is one of the best things she ever seen. She also thinks that the Cm Jack looks nothing like him.....

There you go. Another opinion and I think after we see the whole thing, we'll be happy with it. So says my wife.... :lol:D

Cheers

Yep, I am thinking $450.

Wait a minute... I thought you were arguing that Jack should be MORE than Blackbeard?

I would think at least $450 as well.

I agree. While I'm sure a lot of it is an effort at maintaining a price point, it would be nice to see SS take it to the next level of detail and mixed media. I love this base though - at least the concept sketches - and SS continues to produce really interesting and impressive environment bases.

$450?... Is it being shipped with a chest full of cold as well???

Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

The other Disney pieces have been anywhere near $450. $350 at most.

Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

Maybe SS will make some cuts to keep the price around $299 or $350... you know, plastic boots, etc.

But there's so much detail to his outfit, and with that extravagant base, you'd think the price would go up.

i love it when they make these highly detailed bases, it really addes to the piece imo.

Well, My reasoning was, Blackbeard, while not a licensed item like Disney, is more complex in costume, there's a lot of layers and details to Blackbeard, but Jack's clothes, without his coat, are pretty basic compared to blackbeard, so I figure the base and Disney license will be the biggest factors in his price and he could still fall within the range a of a standard PF and Blackbeard price. Guess I worded my last post a little poorly. If Jack has his coat though, then yeah I could see $450, the buttons and the folds at the back of it would take more work.
