Anybody here try to use alcohol like the guy on Statues Forum? I would be afraid of removing the red. Do you figure there is a certain percentage of alcohol per volume that would be OK?

I think he only used a cotton swab without alcohol :dunno

Just got my Spidey! EX #440. Thankfully, it's a keeper! If you get up extremely close you'll see some less than perfect black lines, but no smudging, or paint chips, or anything worth exchanging it over.

On a side note, WOW this is a truly amazing statue!

I can except a tiny flaw, or say a slight error on the base (hulk) but if its on his face etc. NO!

Mine's on the truck now, but not that excited. :dunno

Just hope for the best & expect the worst.
Also purchasing the Thor PF later on the day. :yess::hi5:

But this level of QC problem is pretty new for Sideshow, right? This could have effects on sales down the road. Certainly, they are losing money having to ship all these statues back and forth.

If by new you mean ever since I bought my first SS product in '05 and consistently since then, yes.

Okay, I'm having a problem lining the goddamn peg with the magnet! I swear, I'm gonna lose it!:banghead

Exactly. :lecture

Again, which is why mine is going back. The webbing on the body was great. No complaints. The head though is my issue.

Agreed, I have purchase well over 100 items from Sideshow, 1:1 busts, LSB bust, premium formats, comiquettes, helms, and of course 1:6 scale, and in all of those purchases only the Darkness LSB exclusive was sent back.

This fiasco with Spidey is ridiculous though. A handful of bad paint apps is more than acceptable in a production run, but it is more like there is a handful of flawless paints apps vs. the majority being bad, sloppy and haphazard.

The thing is man that it is not just Spidey... The limited time I have been here, all I read about is serious flaws with new items...

I love SS. Their pieces are the ones that got me hooked up. I only own SS pieces actually. But why do I have to dread the time when I pick one up because I may find that it is not perfect.
Mind you by perfect I am talking about 566$ kind of perfect. Because that is exactly how much Spidey cost me. Or 763$ kind of perfect like the Iron Man MkIV Maquette I had to return...

ThnxX

Still seems to get the most comments :lol

Thnx fellas!

@ risingstar, I would say Venom is 100% 1/4. The crouch really hides his proportions. When you see him in person your eye see a lot more in his bulk than the camera picks up. I thought the same thing for a long time, but in hand you can see how large he really is.

what she said :lecture

Congrats, Im really happy with my statue, I agree, I have minor flaws here and there but enough to send it back. At a distance I dont notice, only up close...such is the way with SS these days.

Yea I have to agree. I mean I am all for not having to go through not returning a piece if i can look past a few flaws, but when there are paint smears right my Spidey's eyes and on his forehead, I don't care how "unnoticeable" they are, they just should not be there. These cost most people right around $400, and its not like it is black panther or she-hulk; this muthaF*%$ing SPIDERMAN we are talking about here. Marvel's No.1 Flagship Character. My return is taking much longer than it should be I can tell you that. I am getting weary w/ this Sideshow, I want my Spidey!

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Waitlist links available in 1st post.

Yeah, I guess it is at least more widespread now days. I'm sure they are cutting corners just like every other company. Companies just don't get that its cyclical. Cutting corners leads to lower quality. Lower quality leads to less sales. Lower sales leads to more cost cutting which leads to lower quality....and so on and so on.

#530/650 just arrived.
Flawed? Yes.
Acceptable? Indubitably.

This thing is a beauty, kinda forgot about the flaws when I took Spidey out of the box. No squiggly lines though so far, the kid who painted mine might actually have satisfactory skills on tracing. Will post pics maybe later or tomorrow.

P.S.
Also got the calendar!
