Re: Sideshow Spider-Man Comiquette

Why not? The richer you are, the more expensive your taste. If he was doing it solely for the fans, he wouldn't charge anything. Donald Trump could retire but he hasn't.

Him coming out at his age has got to cost something IMO. Other wise I would just retire. Who knows what he charges. Maybe its pitence?

He charges roughly $70 per person for a signature does he not? There is probably also a guaranteed appearance fee, flight, hotel and meals on top of that. It adds up quickly.

There is no doubt he is profiting from it.

Now I am not attacking his character. I wouldn't do it any different. I just accept the reality of human nature. Stan isn't happy to see me. I am happy to see him. There is a cost to doing so.

Oh, I know your not. I suppose we both know he wishes to profit otherwise your right, he would charge nothing. I am sure he does get some enjoyment out of hearing stories and meeting people. I know I would.

Re: Sideshow Spider-Man Comiquette

Look at it this way - if there wasn't a charge to meet Stan, how many attendees and event personnel would be lining up to meet him? There wouldn't be enough hours each day to accommodate everyone.

For sure. I would just go right back into the line after I saw him. Round 2 would be like "Stan, buddy! Long time no see. Could you sign this too?"

Re: Sideshow Spider-Man Comiquette

I attended Stan Lee's Comikaze comic convention at the LA Convention Center back in Spet of last year, and he was charging $50 per signature. This was the first such event in what I think he hopes to make a regular thing. You had to wait in line and fill out a form and pre-pay, then wait in line to get the signature. Very streamlined, pay in out, no BS...

Re: Sideshow Spider-Man Comiquette

How stupid am I to feel this happy!!!! This has to be one the happiest days I've had in a very long time.

damn, only 50 bucks? I thought it like 150. I'll consider another ccnyc. so far spidey's wall is the only good place. too bad hulk can't keep it clean, that'll be the day.

Re: Sideshow Spider-Man Comiquette

I've heard varying amounts and it is likely different depending on venue.

I've never heard of him charging more than $50. I've even seen less than $50 but not more. When I went to the WW Con, the booth that was giving out the COAs was selling tickets for his sig for $45 if you paid in cash.

Now if you are talking about a Stan Lee VIP pass for the Con, then we are talking about big bucks. That'll run you almost $300.

Yah, only $50. I passed cuz by the time he actually started setting up to sign I had already been walking around for at least two hours and had blown half my wad. Not to mention the lines were huge, so maybe he can charge $50 at an event with his name attached to it, right..

BUT, on my way out I literally walk up to see Mark Texeira setting up his booth and scored a colored sketch of Ghost Rider and Daredevil.
And after that I was done.

Re: Sideshow Spider-Man Comiquette

Personally I have never given a flying fig about getting anyone's sig. I can't imagine paying for one. That seems to defeat the purpose in a way.

However I would get Stan's for the Spidey Comiquette. It is just the perfect piece with the perfect spot to have signed.

It's too bad he won't sign more then Stan Lee. Stan Lee Wuz Here would be just too cool.

Here in Chicago the price is $55...that's not bad although paying for a 1 day sat. pass is $60 or the whole con for $90 (which makes better sense for me even though I can only go 2 days out of the four). Add that plus the $55 for Stan's sig. I'm sure Stan's appearance alone also drives up the price just for admission into the convention. C2E2 ticket prices are $55 for all 3 days but Stan will not be attending this.
The back wall seems to be the most common place, but I had Stan sign mine in the front so that it can be seen without having to turn the statue around. I agree though that there aren't many places other than the back and the small platform in the front to put any sig on.

Man that looks great. I kinda like the smaller sig too.

Did you buy your tickets online? Most peeps make that mistake. The extra $5 is a surcharge by the company selling the tickets online. Don't buy the sig tickets online. They sell them onsite at the Con for $50. They even gave me a $5 discount because I paid cash. $50 at the booth got me his sig and a COA as well. I learned this the hard way myself. I made the mistake of buying a few tickets online. Now I know better.

Congrats again Ski. I know full well how great a day that was for you.
