If you look at Sideshow Star Wars Mythos page it now shows the Lomrokk picture in between Ben Kenobi and Boba Fett. I wonder if this is the order of how they will be released.

Any 'easy cash grab' means that people are generally willing to pay the greater difference for the statue (because the statue is worth the price to the buyers). If people are hesitating to pay the extra $100, then the cash grab is not so easy.

I'd say it's quite easy. This will sell out along with other products now fetching much higher retail prices than they would previously.

I say "cash grab" because unlike other markets, sideshow pieces are not later retailed for less money. In time, increased price per unit will lower interest in collectibles and in the end sell less units. Basic market skimming and elasticity of demand.

I agre that at the moment people will pay slightly more. But we're already collectors. SS needs to entice new people o collect which won't happen if prices increase. Just IMHO.

I could see them doing that just to space out the uber popular characters like Fett and Vader. Makes perfect sense.

So they'll either lose sales to the price outpacing demand, or they'll prevent themselves from throwing away money to resellers.

Did the resellers have some kind of claim on the money they won't be able to skim if the quantity is too high for an inflated secondary market? What makes Sideshow's model an easy cash grab, but the resellers' markup not?

the gamorrean guard is pretty much on top on my wanted list... Boba slipped pretty much to the bottom for some reason.. I have the PF and a GG Boba.. somehow dont feel the need for another one.. I am curious how the price tags are going to develop during this line..

I've been reading this same statement and variations of it on various forums for more than ten years now. Prices keep going up, though (along with gas prices, food prices, everything prices), and collectibles continue to sell out.

The price of these things reflects the cost of doing business in this industry. Materials grow more expensive. (Polystone is an oil-based material, so every time gas costs go up, expect that collectibles will do the same ... for many reasons.) Labor becomes more expensive.

And consider the increase in quality as well. Setting aside the occasional snafu on the part of the factories in China, the Stateside production of collectibles has made a monumental leap in quality since I started collecting more than a decade ago. I wouldn't pay $250 for my SS/W Lurtz statue today, but I'm definitely forking over that amount for Maul.

I agree but that stems back to my first point. You have a 1/5 scale mythos at 350 alongside a full pf at 350.

I've also seen a vast improvement in quality overthe years. Should SS be charging more for their products then they were back then? Yes. Because they build a better product than they did. I look at my classic Bowen venom statue I bought back in the day and sit it next to my comiquette and the difference is laughable.

That being said, prices can't be to much of a barrier of entry for new collectors. They need to remain accessible to move in volume. There was an earlier point regarding resellers entering the market and I agree entirely in that point. Why let someone take advantage of the opportunity and make the money off the laggards who don't purchase in time? The answer to that is that if every joker And doom pf were selling on the SS site for 900+ there would be a lot less people in these forums and taking a general interest in this hobby. It would be unaffordable and limited to a much smaller group. That makes product more expensive as you building products with more risk to a lesser audience. You lower volume, you increase cost per unit in production, then you offset by increasing margins and price yourself further out the market.

Th gamorrean oes look sweet. Not to much chatter about him. Do however wish that axe of his was through a fresh kill. Not sure why he'd have it through a skull.

Yeah I have to say GG is my favorite of the bunch. He such a lesser character but they made this guy look so tough and awesome. Like he doesnt give a damn pose.

A statue that i think would be very cool for this series is a Farmer adult Luke. The Luke as he'd have been if he never joined Obi-Wan on his damn-fool idealistic crusade or joined the rebel alliance

Farmer Luke would be a trainwreck of a human being.

Maybe he could save himself if he started some kind of anti-Empire underground railroad, or something.

I would really like to see Wedge done in this format. There are just too many characters to choose from. This will probably end up being my favorite line if they can keep it going. The EU just has endless possibilities.

I cannot locate the Boba Fett Mythos thread, but I'm going to keep digging...

But, here is a quote from the USA Today article, posted in the Gamorrean Guard thread:

"Boba Fett, available for preorder next month, was another no-brainer.

In the films, his part is somewhat subdued when compared to the legend that has echoed into the future," Gilliland says. "We saw him bring down a lone smuggler with the aid of the Empire. But how would he handle a bigger prize with no backup?"

It would be nice if they could ship one before putting more up for order. I would just like to see what they are actually like.

Total agree having four on order before having one in hand yet is pretty nuts especially when they're charging a nice NRD up front.

I didn't see it in the "comming in 30 days" list in the last newsletter. Hopefully I just missed it.

oh it has to be mentioned there ?? hmm.. still says october on the website...
