Very cool - thanks, gonna get those and try! Great find!

Got my extra suit and extra At-At Driver padded suits. If Tie pilot doesn't have one, he's gonna get one of those. Started taking the belt off the Tie pilot, and of course, the POS belt clasp broke.,,,,lord, hate belts in 1:6, mostly

update: here is the Tie body with an extra At-At driver padded suit. Note: bodies are the same, except the color

And with the suit over:

Looks good! Yeah these bodies need some padding to look right around the waist. You still planning on mounting the Marmit head on this one?

Yes, as a 2nd pilot. Still figuring out what I should use for the head. Have a slim TT body, but gotta look into cheap heads to place the helmet over or some such

Those look awesome............gonna have to hit my local hardware store after lunch. I'd rep you again, but site says gotta spread some love around.....

Hate it when the net tells ya who can love and not love...wait, wut?

I've got my Black 2 and Black 3 buckets almost done - just need to find a way to add the aurebesh ID numbers on the front.

I used the same heat-form auto vinyl to add the gunmetal paint apps on Mauler as I used for Backstabber's stripes. I also added a coat of clear orange over the lenses to give them an amber hue that I've always pictured in my head. I think the lenses are supposed to be gray or green, but oh well.

I've been meaning to ask and clarify: what clear orange did you use? And you painted it on the outside of the lens? It actually makes yours look more transparent and lens-like. I've tried to get confirmation if the Tie pilot was actually a dark green, but unclear on that. I do know that the At-At driver mask was a repainted/modified Tie pilot mask from ANH.

I used Tamiya clear orange x-26, and I painted the outside. Yes, it makes the surface even more smooth and shiny, like a Future floor polish effect.

I've read that the hero tie helmets were supposed to have green lenses, but I think they were gray in all the scenes I remember from ANH. And in all the cockpit light reflections, they always looked amberish to me.

Would love to see them in green.. and the gray hose installed :). Was the hose in ANH, or just ROTJ?

I just got my second SS TIE pilot in the mail! Gonna futz and fix today, and then pose the two with ANH Vader.

Thanks for the heads up on the brand.....

I may try a clear green.....got my little grey tubing deals in from the lego.....gonna see what I can do with the lateral hose...

this is an interesting page on 501st requirements:

Far as I am aware, the 3rd hose was ANH only, but I'll let you in on a secret: aside from the pic of the tie pilot dude in the hangar bay, all the scenes of them in the cockpit were filmed during ANH... at least, from what I've heard

The lego hose would be perfect if I can get the ribbing to push in a bit...........

pic gives an idea of the scale on the lego hose. The ribbing should be touching each other closely....

And the green paint I used didn't do much. ordered the tamiya one!

here is another cool link on tie helmets:

Yeah those Tamiya clears do work a kind of magic when painted onto lenses - make them look very real.

Lighting sucks at the moment, but I wanted to get one quick pic. More later when I figure out how to focus panoramic with a crappy cell phone cam.
