I guess the relative heights of too-tall Vader (RO body in this case) and the TIE pilot aren't that far off.

Yeah, they look okay together. At the rate we're going, average 1/6 figs will soon all be 13" and imposing villains will be 15".:lol

Awesome pics; my SSC version arrived today. Next to the Marmit one. Think Marmit has the edge with the helmet sculpt and the hoses are a tad smaller. The boots and gloves on the Sideshow are far superior, and like the At-At Driver, the cloth material is top notch!

That is a stock Marmit body and boots, BTW, so marmit is actually taller by a hair? LOL

Those two look good together. I want to say I even like the marmit silhouette a little better. It's the crispness and quality detailing of the SS up close that pushes it over the edge, but the marmit ain't no slouch.

No, the marmit is pretty killer. The belt and the gloves in the original kit are out-dated...........and a little flat wash on the boots and they look less plastic-y.

Anyone ever come up with a good substitute for a 1:6 grey hose?

A better shot of the 3rd (grey) hose:

I could use the marmit At-at driver grey hose, but it's not quite the same. Din't know why all the 1:6 fear that 3rd hose!

Hmmm, I would think some kind of fine flexible metal coil would work best to simulate the look, but I don't have any suggestions. There's Lego parts, but not much different from the Marmit AT-AT hoses.

How do the Marmit and SSC chestboxes compare? One issue with the Marmit ATAT driver is that the chestbox is too small.

As I said in the ATAT driver thread, the Marmits are more accurate sculpt-wise than either HT or SSC across the board, but they just don't have the crispness of fine detail and level of paint/finish. They were so amazingly well sculpted for being so long ago.

Honestly, the Marmit Vader from back then looks to be also more accurate than either of the HT ones.

For $80, marmit is awesome. The overall look of the helmet looks dead on......Yes, the chestbox is small, and the gloves need to go (as does the belt), but with the SSC version having extra gloves, it's an easy switch!

Thanks for the lego link - ordered! approx 6" long may be perfect

That above pic is the worst pose possible...lol

I can't get over the thin waist on this one

It's easily fixed. The base body is fine, it's the tailoring of the suit - needs to be let out a tad

Sorry for the crappy background in this pic - that side of the house is embarrassingly in need of a paint job! Camera cannot handle indoor light well. This pic shows off what I love about the marmit:

Used a little high gloss on the helmet, low gloss on the boots, replaced the gloves with the super nice Sideshow ones! It holds its own....you can see how the sculpt differs with the top part, especially!

Question: if I wanted to use the marmit sculpt on the Sideshow body, suggestions on how to make that work? Are there 'dummy heads' I could use that would hold the hollow helmet in place? Marmit was on the road to a true interchangeable body but they were not quite there yet!

Buckets mounted on the lone body I have at the moment. I also added some makeshift home-made code cylinders.

Do you mind sharing your recipe on those homemade cylinders? Looks good!?! Thanks

Ended up buying the last of the TA Tie Pilot body suits......it was expensive, but option on ebay are limited and what is on there, those prices are redonkulous!

I actually don't like the cylinders I made. They are finishing nails with silver jewelry wire wrapped around them, and I beveled the nail head with a dremel. For my next attempt, I was going to get some tiny stainless set screws (see below), flatten the tips a bit, and just glue them on top of the cut-off finishing nail.

Ok, code cylinders V2:

I went to the hardware store and got 6-32 x 1/8" stainless set screws, and 16 gauge (1.6 mm dia) finishing nails/wire brads. I just cut the sharp ends off the nails, gently hammered the cut ends into the hex socket of the set screws, trimmed the whole thing down to 20mm, and beveled the tips a little. Dimensions should be fairly close to 1:6 scale. From a distance, looks close enough to accurate.

edit: if you trim them to 20mm (1:6 scale), they sink too far into the pocket. I just wrapped both in some masking tape to prop them up to the right height, and keep them spaced apart.

That is actually kind of ingenious. Never would have thought of that, but gonna try! Thanks! really like how they look in that above pic!

:clap Nicely done.

I cast the ones from the Luke X-Wing to mixed results. Got a couple of decent ones, but most were throwaways.

Well shoot, I just found these. I think they look even more like the tip of a code cylinder, and I wouldn't have to bevel.

I'll order a bunch and will try making a set of cylinders (V3:() next week when they arrive.
