Get at-at driver while the exclusive is still around, that rifle is bad-ass.

The EX rifle is the main reason I'm contemplating this figure at the moment.

Yeah, the ATAT driver's rifle is one of the coolest EX accessories in a long time. It's really well finished too with glossy and matte parts.

The rifle really is great!

I like it! Breaks up that big blob of glossy black. I was actually doing the same thing to my TIE helmet, and trying to add the Backstabber stripes.

Here's Backstabber. I've ordered another TIE pilot off Sideshow to make his wing-man, but this helmet has no body.

Looks great. I would have liked to have done that also, but didn't like the idea of having to mask the vertical lines. Maybe I'll pick up another pilot and try it out.

I was trepidatious about painting stripes as well, so I cut strips of automotive vinyl wrap. It pulls up easy for adjustment, and then you hit it with a heat gun to activate the adhesive and form-fit it to the surface. You can always pull it off if you change your mind later.

I was trepidatious about painting stripes as well, so I cut strips of automotive vinyl wrap. It pulls up easy for adjustment, and then you hit it with a heat gun to activate the adhesive and form-fit it to the surface. You can always pull it off if you change your mind later.

Yeah, I saw that a while back - for $50.

I'm SO shocked it's still in stock.

The ATAT driver jumpsuit I got was under $30 and is the exact same pattern. Not sure why the TIE Pilot's is so much more.

I've got my Black 2 and Black 3 buckets almost done - just need to find a way to add the aurebesh ID numbers on the front.

I used the same heat-form auto vinyl to add the gunmetal paint apps on Mauler as I used for Backstabber's stripes. I also added a coat of clear orange over the lenses to give them an amber hue that I've always pictured in my head. I think the lenses are supposed to be gray or green, but oh well.

I was intending on swapping to a shorter HT body, but for now I'm using the stock SS body with some paper towel wrapped around its waist and rubber cut away from the sides of the chest to allow arms to lower all the way. Definitely still too tall, even next to too-tall Vader.

The helmet repaint really makes this pop. I think if SSC had done these stripes I probably would have grabbed this guy. Unmodded it has a bit of that "undefined glossy black object" look without the right lighting (not so much the fault of the figure, which is nice - the TIE pilot design is the problem.) The silver stripes really bring the helmet into focus more.

I guess the relative heights of too-tall Vader (RO body in this case) and the TIE pilot aren't that far off.
