not trying to come off as condecending, nor insulting, but i never got the whole idea behind AFA grading, can you explane the appeal of it to me?

No offense, it's a serious question. If i spend As much on a Toy as i spend on sideshow figures, You can be Damn sure i'm gonna open it and enjoy posing it. Looking at it in the box.. or, better yet, never being able to even look at it in the box simply baffels me.

Please, help me understand the appeal?

Thats is a good question. Why get a figure less than 5 year old AFA graded? Hasn't it been discussed that SS figures havn't been going up in value?

It's not that. I guess part of my problem is i do not look at the investment value of my collection. i collect simply becuase i love it. I have no intention of selling anything, and as such, I could not possibly care Less about the resale value.

Were that the case, i'd have sold my Hot toys Hicks figure A while ago.
If i ever decide to resell, It would only be becuase I no longer want it, rather than trying to make a buck. And there have been a few things i've simply GIVEN away to some of my friends here localy because tehy can't afford it, and i no longer want it, but they do.
I guess if yo are big on "what it's worth" then getting things graded makes sense. it's just an alien concept to me.

To me, given the fickle nature of the market, espcially in the current economy, unless you've got something really super ultra mega limited, it's a huge gamble investing in collectibles for financial value.

Old figures and things are worth so much because no one thought to take care of them and save them and all. Nowadays, collecting is so huge and popular, everyone's doing everything to preserve them, but if everyone's doing it, then it devalues things because there's no longer a scarcity.

I'm with Lerath, I buy to enjoy the piece. It's nice to know that if I ever find myself in a pinch, I could probably make some cash on my stuff, but odds are about 1/3 of what I invested and that's only in an emergency.

Glad that happened so it could fixed my stupidness for canceling. I'm on the WL for the Utapau and the Sandie since I gave those axe. I figure they'll convert as well.

first ... i under stand were some peopel come from on AFA .. i dont do this to make $ or sell .. i do it becouse the way i have them box this up in a case makes for a great way to display the figure ... i get to see all of the figure and the box is protected and i know for many years there are not going ot be fingure prints and were and tear on the box or figure .... just the way i like to have some of my figures displayed ... i have only done this to a few as the cost is very high .. but then some i think are worth the extra $ ... here are two of my Fav ...
