I am kind of torn between wanting to LOVE and hoping I don't. If I love it I will for sure want to order it, but I am not sure if I need TWO Supermen in my collection. Decisions decisions ... damn first world problems.

No you need Three my Friend, the one that's coming out the MOS and FTW maybe if it ever gets done which I saw somewhere here is the Christopher Reeves PF in the making, one which if SSC where wise would be a instant success

I'll have 2 in my collection, it'll be the PF and the reeve though

I know the feeling dude, but just start a Superman collection for yourself. Nothing wrong with having an over abundance so you can wow in the presence of your favorite character. I plan on doing that with Batman. I bet the movie puts you over the edge, haha! Supes it up!

I am TRYING to limit it a bit for financial and space reasons so I might not be able to get as much as I want ... lol

I'm on Team ink here. Reeve and Comic Supes figs for me(plus the LSB). Maybe the MoS fig if the movie is a classic ad I can pick up a reg with reward points.

This fig officially gets the 'straight beasting' stamp if approval tho.

Wow this looks impressive! I'm doubtful that the final production piece will look this good though, but here's hoping. If the production piece has paint apps close to this, and the movie rocks, then I'll definitely order this. Now if only they could make a Bale Batman PF, I'd be set :)

I hear that!

Was happy to pre-order something that I feel is a classic representation of the character. But after the movie hits, going forward that is going to be the driving aesthetic for this brand in this century. The old school look might as well be an Elseworlds costume for as relevant it will be in new stories and media from here on out.
I now wonder had I missed the boat on this (the PF), if I would still be missing it four, five or six years from now?

Of course, no matter how good the Cavill movie and statue turn out- if we start getting increasingly bad to worse sequels every three years, that'll start taking the shine off that piece as well.

It's times like this I question why I feel like I need any of this crap :lol

Holy Jeebs that's gorgeous. If the movie turns out as good as I think it does, I might need to put down a Craigslist want ad for people on need of a pimp to give their money to.

Sorry....the classic look will never be topped

Sorry....the classic look will never be topped

I never felt a need to change the look and still don't.
But for as much as you, me , and other dinosaurs still like it, it just won't continue to be relevant to anyone but us...and probably less so as the years go by and stronger interpretations of the material continue to roll out under the newer imagery.
The 8 year old that sees and loves MOS in a few weeks is going to bond with that look for the character. As he gets older, that's going to be his gold standard.
Add to that all the saturation marketing and tie-in products carrying this new image...

The classic look may not be topped, but it will definitely get pushed to the dim dark background.

Only way that could possibly be averted is if this movie falls flat on it's face, and I just don't see that happening. Even then you still have to contend with DC pushing the Jim Lee re-design on all the tie-in merch for the foreseeable future.

Ok... you guys think I'm nuts.

Somebody here agree to bump this thread in 2033 and we'll see whose smoking crack then.

Seriously, I could give list a reasons why I can imagine younger people thinking the MOS suit is the bees knees and why the old trunk style is as desirable as granny panties, but I doubt I'll convince anyone here.
It's less about design and more about saturation marketing going forward.

The Classic suit will always be the iconic COMIC version, and that want change. Honestly when the New52 gets old we will see a MASSIVE reversion backto the books we knew with LITTLE tweaks ... After the next Crisis of course.

As for the movie I agree with Mose that this will be a new Real World esthetic that will stick around for awhile ate least... Maybe not 2033, but would say a good 10 years...:lecture

I wonder what the CR costume would look like within the hyper realized speed and energy from MOS.

CR was always so static with arm movement being his primary show of exertion and force.
