I've had my Sidious in the same position for about 23 hours now, and the back "feet" of the chair have bent almost completely straight. There is no way this thing will stay up over time. SS made the hologram FAR too heavy for the weak plastic/rubbery feet of the chair. I really want to love this, as the basic concept/sculpt is awesome, but I'm starting to think it is a far worse engineering flaw than Anakin's arm. Sad.... :monkey2 This is the first time I've ever considered sending an item back.

I think with the right positioning, if the weight is evenly distributed this piece can stand up over time. My computer monitor looks like it should just fall right over with how small the base to support it is, but correct angles and what not take the weight off any one point and there's balance. if the weight is even to all the chair legs, then they shouldn't cave in unless their joints are quite loose, and I know some people seem to have that, but I and others have gotten good posing out of our chairs with no concern at all. If people feel their joints are loose, I would contact SSC about replacement unless you're unhappy with it in general then just return it.

I really like this thing...it's a unique piece to have in the collection...

It does take a little finesse to get it to stand n' stay...the back right rear leg on this one is a bit loose,,,but it can be done. My biggest surprise was how heavy the HoloSid is.

I like the subtle "frosting" on the holo...makes it look cool even when it's not lit.

One giggle though....I have this urge to hunt down a doll-sized bath tub and do a "Sidious-on-the-half-shell" like the "Mary-on-the-half-shell's" that you see on people's front lawns...:lol

'll grab a "lit" shot later....

Ah, but I doubt the base of your computer monitor is made out of weak, almost rubbery plastic. The joints on my chair are fairly strong...it's the feet of the back legs that are straining/bending to almost complete flat bits due to the ridiculous weight of the hologram. I thought I had found a perfect balance yesterday, after messing with this thing for about 30 minutes. I placed him in my display case and didn't look back until this morning when I saw the intense strain of the chair feet.

I'll keep an eye out on this thread to see if, in a few days, I'm not the only one with horribly bending legs before I decide to mail this back. But for now, I'm trying to hunt down some form of clear rubber base to place under the seat of the chair for added support...something I SHOULD NOT have to do for a collectible of this price.

crasis...

look at how I have the back feet in my picture...slightly splayed out...it distributes the weight a little better and allows for some variation like raising one of the front legs.

Give it a shot...hope it helps.

Unfortunately, that's exactly how I had the back feet positioned yesterday, but with also some pressure placed on the two front feet for balance. While you can keep that position you have right now for some snapshots, I guarantee you'll have bendy problems in 12 hours time. :(

Thanks for the tip, though.

I just got my Holowalker and had the same problem with the rear upper right leg joint being a little lose so it kept collapsing under the weight of the hologram.

That was until I rotated the leg forward, one complete rotation. Now the joint is nice and stiff and holds up the weight just fine.

If anyone is having this problem, try twisting the leg around once.

Sideshow did an amazing job on this one, I would've never expected them to give it so much articulation.

Tried that trick...didn't tighten the joint any on mine...but it's staying upright ok so...

Which leg are you having the problem with? I noticed that both legs tighten when rotated around the central axle in different directions. While facing the front of the statue, the left leg (your left) tightens when rotated upwards, the right one tightens when roted downwards (complete rotations).
Sorry to hear about your problems Jedibear.

dude you're right they do tighten up. i tried to tighten them but i must have twisted them in the wrong direction. it does help quite a bit. thanks for the tip.

I am having the same issue...I will try the suggested fix...thanks!

One more thing...why does everyone display Sideous on the chair backwards...the small legs should be behind him.

Probably because he was facing the opposite direction than the walker was walking in the most prominent holo-Sidious scene in the film?

here's a "glowing" shot....

...and he's been standing this way all day. No sagging or problems.

This is a pretty cool piece.....

I like the piece very much as well. But my mechno chair has to be replaced. The leg is loose (the tightening fix DID work on one leg, but one os the small legs is loose as well). And the plate that the bulb is on came off so the weight of the hologram pulls it off and the hologram falls over.

I took a screen shot of the scene from the movie, but I can't find where my DVD viewing program saves them.

I gotta do the leg tighten thing myself. They're loose but still a very cool piece overall.

Here's my 'glowing' shot too.

And yah, I'm afraid of the legs failing in time. I almost wish there was no articulation in the chair now.

Mine seems to stand fine, very strong joints. I still can't get the battery cover off though and I may have to return it if I can't. It seems stuck and doesn't budge.

Edit** I just pryed it out using a little metal pole. Looks like it was stuck to the sides and the top so some of the paint came off the door. It doesn't show on the outside though, so I guess it's ok.

I received the Sidious Mechno today. Pretty cool thing. The Sidious itself is much heavier than I thought, and, I have the impression that it is actually a bit to heavy for the Mechno- chair... The legs can't always hold the weight. So, posing is limited.
