In Robot Chicken he answers the phone "Palpity Palpatine". So if its in Robot Chicken, it has to be cannon.

It is Cos, but it's not an acronym. It's a hold over from the original script Lucas wrote, where the Ruler of The Galaxy's name was Cos Dash_t. Cause the sh_t. Very funny, George. What a card that guy.

But seriously, Cos Palpatine. There ya go. I think it even says that on IMDB.

I thought he said "go for Papa Palpatine".

Oh wait maybe it is papa palpatine... damn we will never be able to get to the bottom of this.

Oh well at least pre orders will be up in some hours... real anxious for this one.

Ok, another Palpatine question. Does he have hair in RotJ? We know he does it RotS, but obviously Sideshow will have to come up with an answer when they do the 12" RotJ Emperor. Frankly, I think the RotJ Emperor would look strange with or without hair. I just never thought what was under that hood before now.

I think they will give him the same amount of hair on the ROTJ sculpt as the ROTS:

You really can't see his hair in the ROTS version either with the hood up, so giving hair to him won't make much of a visual difference since all you really see is his face from underneath his hood:

There is no official first name for Palpatine, and I think it is better for the mistery of the character to remain unknown, just like his past. I really think the Darth Plagueis novel was a huge mistake by Lucasbooks and I am glad it is cancelled now. Cos Dash_t was a character from the first drafts that resemble Palpatine in some aspects and Frank Palpatine comes from a line in TPM taken too literally.

PALPATINE : ...the Republic is not what it once was. The Senate is full of greedy, squabbling delegates who are only looking out for themselves and their home sytems. There is no interest in the common good...no civility, only politics...its disgusting. I must be frank, Your Majesty, there is little chance the Senate will act on the invasion.

Is Palpatine's entire outfit red in the movie like it is on the figure? I always thought we called it the "red robes" really because of the red sashes.

It all depends on the lighting. Like many of the prequel costumes, the materials play differently in different lighting conditions.

As for the whole Cos name thing, all I can think of is Seinfeld.

"Ok so you know the first name now...the cat is rrrrrrrrrrrr out of the bag. I'm Cosmo!!!!"

I'm glad the Plagueis novel is cancelled. I prefer the mystery. And I liked my version of the character better than the proposed Muun character they were planning on.

As to ROTJ Palpatine, I think it'd be fitting if they receeded his hairline, but other than that, I can't imagine there'd be too much of a difference.

i'm gonna have to watch the film again to see what outfits appear when.... (any excuse to watch star wars again) ;)

I was just thinking... perhaps Sideshow purposely left out the Sith lightning this time around because they are planning on revealing an expansion pack in the near future with the lightning hands AND his chair? Or am I just dreaming? :emperor

Well there really is no necessary chair for him for ROTS, but it's a hopefully possibility for a ROTJ edition. Come to think of it, if they do his ROTJ throne, I hope they include and LED spotlight in the part over his head and add one for the controls on the arms of the chair.

That would be cool. I'd buy it.

Well, it could be his office desk and chair from ROTS, then. :) Either way, I just want lightning! :emperor :emperor :emperor :emperor

Perhaps a custom is in order once the Koto piece ships. Hrrm.

The first thing that struck me when I first saw ROTS Palpatine photos was that his jaw looked thicker.

I just looked up a photo of ROTJ Palpatine and that seems to be true. Not greatly different, but enough to be important for accuracy.
