Me too, I had a Legolas Exclusive WL convert about a week before shipping and it shipped at the same time as other people.

sweet. so there is still hope you say? but i assumed The josh always gets his first since he's the sideshow poster boy. And i assumed Maulfan gets his first so he can photograph it and thus help to generate sales from those who are still on the fence.:lol

Not hardly, I'm typically a week after most people around here since I'm on the East Coast. Maul was the only figure I ever got about the same time as most people around here.

Sideshow has very talented painters on staff to do the single prototype figures and they do them very well. The factory painters can't match that quality. How Hot Toys can have good painters in factory and prototype is beyond me, but they do, and Medicom has such simple paint apps it's hard for their figures not to match the prototype.

Hey! Just want to say that I didn't refer only to painting... I think that the sculpt is also different... and I meant that Medicom or Hot Toys gives the same figure they show even if the painting on them is very complicated or very very easy... I also want to let you know that I have been buying sideshow figures since the first Luke and I have them all... just I asking this because here in Argentina is not so easy and cheap to buy a figure like this (imagine that we pay for them three times you pay it)... so when you receive something different is really disappointing... However I think that every figure except this one and Obi Wan worth the price

And I'm 5 hours north of him and get to wait another week  so by then, the party is over, it's been photoshopped to death and everyone's moved on. :lol

At least there are some good pics posted by some talented folks to make the wait easier... :)

Never too late to bring your unique image style to the table JB, though I imagine snow isn't fitting of these guys, outdoors may favor them better in the spring, exploring ancient Sith ruins and the likes. Some of your painting backdrops have a nice red mix that'd work great for Palpatine's office.

Well, it's very rare that a sculpt isn't what you see in the prototype, but Sideshow's photographic style isn't always the most flattering to the sculpt, and paint can equally affect the appearance as well. From what I've seen, Medicom and Hot Toys tend to light their images more like you'd find at home on the shelf or in a way reflective of the source materials and it shows the character better.

Thanks Sean...I'm just teasing (myself) a bit...like everyone else (after seeing some of these advance pictures) I want this set yesterday! :)

Knowing all the different styles folks bring to the table here with their image-creating skills and how great these two look, I think the parade of images over the next few weeks celebrating this set's arrival is going to be a wonderful to watch as the figures themselves...can't wait!

That's probably pretty close to the mark...however, we have seen instances where the factory paints "soften" the sculpt's appearance a bit.

Thankfully, we've had a few entries lately where this was NOT the case (big case in point: Old Ben)...

That's the best thing is the style everyone brings. It makes the sharing even more worth it when you're part of such a cool group.

Well that's why I say paint can alter it. Definitely we've had sculpts that weren't so defined as the proto, but at the heart of it all, it can be said the sculpt is always the same, there is rarely variation on the actual base sculpt, and if there is, it is often at LFL's hands which there is no stopping.

Oh I intend to bring my game in full stride once I get these babies in hand. I love Old Ben and making images with him, but as an artist, I do stronger with darker characters and imagery, and as much as I love Darth Maul, his evil from a visual standpoint is all in his design, Sidious is more of facial expression and lighting, so I'm eager to work with the rich lighting tapestry that is his face, so many details and forms to case light and shadow on and bring out his evil. The sculpt and paint look accurrate, from proto images to these in hands, but we've yet to see him capture in all his villainy and I'm looking forward to taking that on.

i dont quite agree with you on the fact that hot toys gives you the exact figure they show. look at the rocky figs on their site not even close to the final figs IMO. same can be said about the POTC figs. not quite the same. a prototype is a prototype. i think the final palp/emp figs look damn good.

I wanna get my pics up before you cause its game over when yours are up. They're just that good.

That must be directed at Sean...cause my reaction when his pics go up is "Game Over" and I want to break my camera! :)

But doilies and the outdoors must soldier on.... :)

I'm really impressed with Sidious, it's nice too to see the level of craftsmanship to the black under clothing, looks to be detailed, and after the dickie the Hasbro used, anything better than that is just more and more splendid. Sidious' hood also looks to have a nice clean edge on the trim instead of fraying edges, which is great and makes the piece look better.

I have a feeling Sidious in hand will looks as good as the proto did, Palpatine's hair looks almost 1 shaded right now but I'm sure that's a different case once you get it too.

I think Hasbro gets a bad rap for the dickie unfairly. Remember that you removed the undershirt from the Bespin Luke to get a better fit? The dickie does the same thing. At $20 a pop there wasn't a lot of room of giving people extra material that probably hurt the look anyway.

Yeah, that was directed at Sean. :) That's the reaction I have when I see his stuff as I said. Though, I would like to avoid breaking my camera. :lol

Just makes me realize I got a lot 2 learn.

I agree we must keep going because it is our duty.
