Just about done with my re-read of Past Life, and hoping for some nice 'nods' in Downpour itself. Would love to see the church - very creepy in the comic mini/ Speaking of which, if you guys don't know: turn to page 16 of chapter 3 and look at the people in the church. The preacher is pretty much the artist Menton3 himself, with producers of SH Downpour in row 2 right side, behind the sheriff. maybe another cameo on opposite side too, just not sure who that is.

Yeah I'm gonna check too.

Update: played for a little while and to me, combat is just fine - like an updated 'classic' scheme, but not annoying. Color palette much nicer than Homecoming. VATRA using colors other than light grey, medium grey and dark grey at times. Looks nice - not gonna blow socks off, but nicer than Homecoming easily. As a fan since '99 I am happy

I think it's quite a bit like Alan Wake at times. I love the music and graphics, the gameplay is okay. Nothing too spectacular, so far. I'll probably write a more detailed post once I'm through.

I'd say if you are a Silent hill fan, this is an easy purchase. If you like exploration over combat, this is your game.

As for pro reviews and the 'clunky' combat, I mean I can see why they didn't like it. I would have preferred an option where your character can dodge an attack rather than put up a defensive posture. I've gotten my *** kicked every time so far. To be fair, playing on Hard mode, so I do expect it to be harder.

Playing on 360, and there is the occasional screen tear, though not as bar as 360 version Alan Wake.

I will be buying this game for sure as I grew up with SH. I really don't care if it's "game of the year" material so to speak. I just hope it's what classic SH is all about.

I mostly avoided combat with enemies, it was scary to fight them or took time to kill them[hard more]. Does the game have any iconic SH buildings?

This game is doing an extremely good job of making me feel scared just walking around. I just spent the better part of an hour walking around in the dark with just a lighter and a rock thinking "please don't let there be an enemy around this corner please dont...OH GOD THERES ONE BEHIND ME!"
