Awesome resculpt on the hair and claws Nathan! Did you sculpt the bone claws over the original claws?

whoa, you're pro at sculpting too.
I may have some PMs your way about something soon :)

but stargate originals will go out to my caster today, hopefully you get to those soon too:1-1:

Oh, I hate suspense. PM me now.

I'm pretty good at modifying or adding detail with two-part putties, but I've never tried a full from-scratch sculpt. I imagine I might be good at it, but I just don't know how to start........yet. Any advice would be nice.

Can't wait to get those Stargate heads. Like the Trevor Firefly heads, I plan to do those upon arrival so everybody can see what they look like painted up. I'll be sure to post pics in your thread when they are done.

No, the blades are much taller than the claws. The claws are more tubular than flat. I carved them out of wood, sealed them, and painted them. Then I drilled holes between the knuckles of the fist hands, lifting ever so slightly toward the top of the hand so that the bone claws would look like they were really ripping through the skin.

Glad you like it.

____ing awesome mods, SS! You rock, bro!

Thanks. You rock for telling me I rock.:hi5:

Got my Chris Reeve headsculpt, the pictures don't do justice to the awesome paint job! Thanks you Nathan!

That looks great. You even have a custom base. That turned out to be a great figure.

Fantastic work man. The hair sculpting looks great!

Thanks.

I'm glad you think so. I have had trouble getting my camera to take good enough pics. I wish I were as a good a photographer as I am a painter. I also wish I had the right equipment for pics like I do for painting. Thanks for mentioning that. And you're welcome.

That is awesome man!!! I kind of forgot how different (and odd) his hair was from the Origin's look.

Gotta admit, when the new hair was unpainted I thought it would be a fail, but you rocked it out. Even the style of sculpting matches what HT did; perfection as always :bow

Hey Nathan,

I sent you several pm's, pm me back please.... Its bobby from Frank & Son

I need some heads painted... Q and I are also working on a 1/6 only show at F&S and would like you to do a demo during the show.

When he sent me photos of the unpainted hair, it was real hard for me to get a pic in my head of what it would like with paint. He had sculpted some hair with "batman ears", but I agreed with him that X1/X2 movie accurate hair was the way to go. I am very pleased with the final version.
Here are a couple pics of those.

Haha. Yeah, I wonder how the Batman ears would have looked painted.

Nathan, which paint do you use for the hair?

Acrylic. It's very important to use a spray coat (primer of dull coat) and a strong sealer when using acrylic because the bonding strength of acrylic isn't as strong as enamel. Enamel is harder to work with, doesn't usually mix well, and can ruin an airbrush if not cleaned out early, often, and thuroughly. Enamel is just a pain to me. Color variety is also much more limited.

You weren't the only wondering if it would come out right. I wasn't sure myself. Believe it or not, I didn't even repaint all the hair. I just color matched and blended the paint onto the new sculpt.

Nathan, Wolverine is unreal!!!

Thanks.

The 1/6 show sounds interesting. I may be down for that depending on when it comes up.

I honesly haven't seen any PMs from you. I'll double check.

SilentSurfer, so the Predator is next? :elefant

and did you get my e-mail about The Derelict?

Absolutely love your work/talent!

What do you use for your primer coat?

Do you strip the paint off the figure, or do you just spray(?) paint your base/primer coat?

What kinds of brushes do you use?

Do you use a special sealer after your done painting?

Do you disassemble the figure?

Again, fantastic painting and sculpting/customizing! :clap

Man, one of these days I'll get something painted by you... I'm only doing my LOST customs now so it's not like I have unpainted head sculpts just laying around (although I wish they were more plentiful). Hopefully by the time the next sculpt gets released you'll be willing and able/available to take it on. :) Fantastic stuff sir!

Thank you very. Yeah, I got some catching up to do. I suppose I'm thankful for the current overload though. That just means I'm doing something right. I hope to be caught up soon so I can invite new orders.

Sent you a PM!!
