It's Spaghetti Western time, cowboys and cowgirls. The first is one that I've done about ten times now, and it will be the last one of this version that I do. The castings I've been getting from this caster tend to flake the paint off lately, and that really pisses me off.
If you have this head, please don't bother to ask me to paint it.
These are both pretty rough sculpts, and though I painted them at the same time and with the same techniques as the Indy heads I recently posted, you can really tell the difference a nice, refined sculpt makes. For what these are though, I like the way they turned out.
The eyes on Velvet Morning's Blondie are so darn small that my smallest paint brush, the one I use for all of my eye work, barely fit between the eyelids. That was fun.
I'm not sure what the Sparta reference is about, but
So, here's a project for myself. I have always been a huge Elvira fan, but I have to admit, I wasn't a fan of the Sideshow PF because it was done in a comic/cartoony style. I even returned my exclusive version after getting it. Yet, it was still Elvira, and I constantly went back to the order page to look at it long after it had sold out.
The thing that bothered me more than the cartooniness, was that you couldn't get a good look at her face with the critters on her finger, but then I wondered how much potential it might have if I could remove the critter from her hand, and give her a more life-like paint job. Besides, how could I say no to this forever?
However, I wasn't about to pay evilBay prices for it.
Recently, Sideshow offered a bunch of distressed figures and this was among them.
ONE(1) Elvira Premium Format Figure – Item #7206 – Distressed Price: $250.00 (9% off SRP!) – Bat portion of item has wing damage
Well, hell! What I wanted to do was going to require basically breaking it anyway, so why not scoop that up. And I did. What wasn't mentioned was that her knife was also missing (they may not have known), but that problem is soon to resolve itself. She also arrived with the critter finger broken and hanging by a bit of the rubbery material it was cast in to give the bat its translucent wings. But this was a very good thing since it let me easily remove the finger to more easily remove the bat.
Long story short (too late), here is my Elvira PF now, sans knife, sans critter, sans repaint.
The only question now is, what is she doing? I've thought of sculpting an albino python to wrap around her (not happening), giving her a heart to be drinking blood from with a straw, having her hold a large Coors can to being drinking from or just holding a six pack (probably not happening either, giving her a severed limb to be examining, giving her a 1/4 Jason mask, or... I just don't know. I'm open to suggestions, so let me hear some. The best feasable idea will become a reality. Don't be shy, but don't be crude either. No kielbasa references.
The python would be easy and i think the most eye appealing once completed. Used foil as the base then just sculpt around it. it could be as if she is about to give it a nice kiss.
