Thanks SO much Nathan for bringing my custom to life. The DX Indy I just don't think will come anywhere near this. THIS is Indy. :)

(More pics in the custom Indy thread.)

I wish sideshow can mass produce your paint job.:clap

Thanks for posting that pic of the completed Indy. Looks great. I'm trying to get that jacket and whip for my own Indy now.

The python would be easy and i think the most eye appealing once completed. Used foil as the base then just sculpt around it. it could be as if she is about to give it a nice kiss.

That's what I had in mind for her to be doing with the snake, but sculpting all those scales and muscle would be tough, and I wouldn't bother without them. Also, my vision of it wrapped around her would make it impossible to be removable, which would make it impossible to paint and then put on, too.

Nathan, maybe for the Elvira thing you could just have her dangling a spider. It'd give her reason to be in that pose, and she can just be "oohing" at it, especially if you re-do the paintwork. Plus, it'd be small enough for it to not block the sculpt.

Love the "Clue" reference btw.. "One plus one plus two plus one... not one plus TWO plus one plus one..."

Got to think outside the box my friend. Make the snake in two parts. It can connect behind her back making it removable.(similar to how they attach arms on PF's) I pretty sure you could pull it off and the contrast of the yellow snake against her dress would look killer.

Thank you very much. I've been wanting to do that since seeing your own Indy repaints showed just how good that sculpt really is.

I love that movie. "They all did it. But if you wanna know who killed Mr. Boddy, I did. In the hall. With the revolver. Okay, Chief, take 'em away. I'm gonna go home and sleep with my wife."

I thought about doing that, but having the connections be hidden by her hands somehow. You're right, I think the snake is the most impressive option, but the dangling spider idea had also crossed my mind.

I think what would be really awesome for Elvira is to sculpt a spider crawling on her hand and paint her eyes looking towards him, it would look like she's adoring him, making a kissy-face towards him. Maybe even sculpt an out-reaching spider-leg on him.

maybe even some real tiny hairs on the spider?

That Indy repaint still just blows me away, incredible work!!

Plenty more pics to come, but I wanted to drop a quick one of the clean Young Indy with a teaser of the WIP Lawrence. Clean Indy was for a client, but my own is full blood, dirt, and sweat.

I just went back and looked at the previous Medicom Young Indy head I repainted. All by itself it still looks pretty nice, but compared to my ability to paint today, it's night and day. Not even a year later and just look at the difference.

My painting ability as of June 4, 2010.

Wow Nathan! I didn't notice you'd made such improvements in your skill since then.

The eyes and the realism of your skin tones are amazing Nathan. Great paint app.

Thanks guys. Here's my dirty Indy. Eventually I will repaint his plastic molded boots and weather his clothes, but I'm happy just having a head on this body again.

The clean version head posted earlier was given to me last Comic Con, or rather, I was given a Medicom head by the owner early in the day at the Con which was wrapped in a paper napkin, which I put in my pocket. Well, at the end of a long day, I cleaned out my pockets of trash, and apparently tossed his head out with the rest. I didn't realize this until the week after the Con and I couldn't find it anywhere in my pockets, bags, or anything.

Being a professional with whom this guy had entrusted his Indy head, I didn't want to tell him what I had done, so instead I bought the Medicom Young Indy from Sideshow (which had been marked down about 5% at the time, I think), and used its head as a replacement. That's the clean version head above.

The dirty version I'm keeping is actually a recast of the clean head which I made (only one for myself and destroyed the mold) for my then headless Indy body. I'm actually very impressed that I was able to get such a perfect cast of it, especially with the hanging bangs. The miracle of pressure pot casting, I guess.

The eyes look a little weird in this shot because they are meant to be looking up with his head tilted down, but there's no tilt here.

And yes, all the dirt, pimples, and blood are fairly screen accurate.
