I always thought Doomsday was lame in the comics, but this backstory is extremely cool and perfect!

I agree. I've never been a fan of the character. Provided the actual transformation is worthwhile, this would definitely be the best incarnation of Doomsday ever.

Just an awesome episode. The season only seems to get better and better. Can't wait to see the Legion in a few episodes.

When I heard they were bringing Doomsday into the show and he was going to be a nice guy by day and Doomsday by night I thought "LAME". Then I read where Jeff Johns though it was a stretch, but after learning the whole sub plot thought it was "well done" I thought "Might not suck it Johns likes it"...

I have to admit though I was THRILLED! They tied Doomsday into the Superman Mythos flawlessly! I wish it was actually Doomsday's comic book back story. The BEST part, however, is that they barely TWEAKED Doomsday's creation story and power set. Created on Krypton and every time he is defeated he comes back stronger and the weakness that leads to his defeat is eliminated so he can never be defeated the same way again.

It fits perfectly!! He's human and a good guy because his evolution had stalled, and the black outs are random bursts of temporary surges in his evolution. Which makes the end Knife scene unbelievably cool!!! :rock:rock

OHH yeah. Jeff Johns is by far my favorite writer in the comic industry right now! If he is the brain power behind "Legion" I would put money on it being awesome! Here is what Johns has to say about his episode of Smallville!

Look carefully at the end..."If there is a season nine I would KILL to do another episode with Glenn!" At least no one's told Johns season 9 is off the table!!

Oh and if your interested...in the beginning of the article they state that "Richard Donner has endorsed Jeff Johns to write the next Superman Movie script"!!!! :rock:rock

I agree. It has been a great season. Now, I'm hoping this 8th season is not their last one. The last I heard it was. It'd be great to see Clark as Superman in season 9. But I really doubt that will happen. Or will it...?

I've stopped questioning - I thought Doomsday was a bad idea, but it's turning out great. I thought Tess was the wrong way to go to replace Lex, but 'Mercy' and her past with Ollie is great. I thought taking time out to just close up Kara's story was a mistake - but I'd say it was probably my favorite episode. I thought Legion was a bad idea too - but now I can't wait to see how they handle it.

And Johns mentions Kristen? I didn't know she was coming back - here's another thing that sounds like it could be a huge mistake - but I now have faith in this crew.

I think it's obvious that this show would have been so much better had Gough and Millar left many seasons ago.

Yeah, Donner endorsed Johns, but that's not really saying much since him and Johns have been in business for a couple of decades now. Johns used to be his assistant I believe, going back to the late 80's if I'm not mistaken. John certainly "gets" Superman for the most part and Donner's worked with him on the Superman books of late, so it comes as no surprise that Donner thinks he would be a good choice to write it. I find it somewhat hard to disagree with him. But if I had to pick a comic book writer to write the next movie, it would be without a doubt Kurt Busiek. He totally and completely gets the character.

Yea, Gough and Millar know how to the the Dawson's Creek crap, but these guys this season know how to make a superhero show. This season's been FANTASTIC

She is coming back for 4 episodes.

I hope she comes back and leaves for GOOD! Not that I have anything against Kristen Kreuk, but all the on again off again relationship stuff just doesn't belong in Smallville. Just my opinion, of course. :D

Yea, I'm really hoping that she dies. The "romance" for 7 seasons really got on my nerves and wasn't all that productive

You can't kill Lana Lang, but the way I'd take it is to bring her back wanting to re-spark her romance with Clark, but she'll see the nascent romance between Clark and Lois and realize that they are destined to be together, so she steps out of the way, despite Clark's protests.

And as much as I like Miles & Al, you do get the feeling that they may have been holding the show back for a few seasons.

Yeah, I'm hoping the same thing as you Dave. For the stuff with Lana coming back. I was hoping that she wouldn't. Clark and Lois' relationship is starting to slowly come together. I'd hate to see them waste 4 episodes on Lana. She's just had WAY too much exposure in this show. I honestly was happy to see her go, and I let out a deep breath of relief. :D

Hopefully she won't screw up what has been by far one of the best seasons of Smallville. So has anyone heard if they are making a season 9? Or, is this it? Is this season the final one?

Last season, it was looking like this season would be the last, but since this season has been so good and the ratings have been going up, who knows.

Yeah, I'm trying to stay optimistic about it. Smallville has to be one of the best shows on the CW. The only other one that looks decent to me is Supernatural. But I've never watched it.

I had never watched it myself before this new season, but I must say that I like it a lot. You really don't have to watch every episode to know what's going on. Must get the previous seasons on Netflix.

All reports still indicate that this will be their last season even though the show is doing well. The CW is already asking for WB for a replacement show which "The Graysons" was supposed to fill before that got axed. There were rumors a while back that the end of this season was supposed be a homage to the fans indicating Clark's taking up the mantle of Superman and it was supposed to be one that really tied everything together continuity wise. Of course tons of rumors were also posted that the last episode would have Clark finally wearing the costume so we'll see what pans out but if they are doing a 9th Season it will be announced fairly soon....

I had to stop watching this show. Used to like it till I realised they were just going to keep doing the same stuff over and over again, and some of the superheroes they brought in, Green arrow etc, were just too camp - as was the scoring.

Oh if you stopped watching before this season you are missing out! It went from campy teen super drama to hardcore DC universe/superman fan fest!!
