Between the Boromir pre-order and the peeks of Arwen and the Snow Troll I am pretty happy at how this SDCC is shaping up, but I will be extremely disappointed if we don't see some LOTR sneak peeks in the form of a video [or conceptual artwork pic's at the very least] of future maquette and PF projects. :(

This is a good thing, but we got totally spoiled by Sideshow when they provided all those concept sketches, and it helped build momentum for the line up to this point. The two stellar releases we have in hand certainly have kept that momentum going, but I think people would go nuts if they saw sketches of Merry and Pippin or Sam and Frodo, as well as some of the other villians in the line.

I'd include Eomer, Faramir, and a PEW to that fine list......:lecture

I think Q2 is more likely for the Snow Troll. It shouldn't take a year for this one to arrive.

And Arwen could still squeak into Q1.

I think we're usually looking at a 7-8 month's period between pre-order and delivery so those are definitely realistic timeframes....as long as SS doesn't hold off too long in putting them up for pre-order.

So judging by the previews, Arwen is likely for Q2 next year and this guy to drop in Q3? I still hope we get another video either at SDCC or at Spooktacular that shows some of the sneak peeks at the designs for the line as it develops.

I do like that this was way out of left field and totally unexpected. The sculpt and design is just phenomenal!

I'll likely keep him until the Cave Troll PF shows up (which means I'll keep him indefinitely!)

Actually, Frank and I were discussing that earlier and we both feel really good about a 1/4 scale Cave troll......:monkey3 :wink1:

I would expect Arwen in Q1 of next year and the Troll in Q2. If this is the end of items for SDCC this year I'm quite happy. Sure, I'd love some more art work but I can walk away quite happy with things.

I'll check this guy out at SDCC, and reserve judgment whether to get him. A low ES is not the icing on the cake that I'm looking for. If they decide to come out with an EX version, THAT would be the icing.

Yeah i'll be snapping shots of him for sure at SDCC. I think that will be my deciding factor as well.

I'm sure it will be around the $800-1000, after all, that's what 'everyone' said the Rivendell environment would be. :lol

Of course, you conveniently forget to mention those prices were based on a prediction of an ES in the 300-500 range. You also conveniently forget to mention that everyone who predicted those prices substantially lowered them based on the premise of Weta opting for a significantly higher, or Open Edition.....funny how all that slipped your mind. :wink1: And while I can't really say with any certainly what the eventual price of this one will be, I can say with 100% certainly it will have a set ES, and years from now we will all know exactly how many of these are floating around.......

Is anyone even sure this statue will be at SDCC? I could be wrong, but I thought the only statues that make an appearance at SDCC are those that have already been available for pre-order, or are made available during the show....and SS has already stated this one won't be available until after SDCC.

I believe they have revealed/displayed pieces that are scheduled to go up for PPO in the weeks following the show. There have been a few exceptions (usually large scale ones), but not many.

That's good to know. I find that pic's taken at SDCC are usually very helpful, esp. to those on the fence about something.

Yeah! Josh's pics of the two LOTR maquettes pushed me over the edge last year to jump in with Gandalf and waitlist Aragorn. But this year...

I will see everything in person! :D

Yeah, that's exactly what I had in mind when I posted above. Both Josh and Chuck [S&F] took some great shots of Aragorn and Gandalf and I know that changed the minds of alot of people.
