So what are the ranks of the SW fan?

-Diehard
-Casually Ardent
-Passively interested
-Hater

I'm sure there others inbetween those...how would you classify yourself?

(thanks to Customikey for the thread idea)

Diehard non-apologists fan with a hint of OG lover but love the prequels as well. Not a hater but come on, some stuff is corney. :chew

Am I the meaining in your life, Dave?

As I said before, I've downgraded myself from hard-core to casually ardent.

I love what I love, and the rest I just don't focus on. Life's too short.

Dave, can you define your terms?

For example, I am "diehard" (I think) about the films, but I've never explored the EU. So where would I fit in?

I don't think these need defining. You consider yourself a die-hard, then that's what you are.

Casually ardent

PS: What is ardent means I just speak Turkish and Russian and Ardent is way to specific word for me :D

Close to love. Not the dictionary definition, but it works.

I think there are ranks inbetween these, for example, I don't think anyone who hasn't read at least some of the EU can be diehard. Or perhaps there's a "super diehard". Maybe "Hardcore" can be more extreme than "diehard"?

I'd say "die-hard" right now. It comes and goes. I burnt out on the books years ago, but I've been getting into the Dark Horse Clone Wars stories lately. I've been watching a movie ever few weeks.

I think I am somewhere between Passively interested and Casually Ardent... I have always been a big fan of the films, both the OT and the PT, but have never really collected much before Sideshow... unless you count all the model kits I bought back when the OT first came out. I had big plans to recreate the AT-AT scenes on Hoth in a big diorama using the MPC model kits released in 1981. I think I bought 8 of the AT-AT kits alone, and opened one of them to look at, but never opened the others. They are back home in KY at my Mom's house. Hmmm? Wonder how much those are worth now days? :rotfl Probably not much since they are still in production!

Semi-Diehard. I love SW but LOTR is my fave bar none. I love collecting SS stuff because I think it's the best out there and I toss some GG stuff in because it's also pretty solid.

I would classify myself as die hard. I read most of the EU, have seen the movies way too many times, and know more than most, although I have learned a few things from my fellow members here. However, if I am die hard there's gotta be another rank higher because I won't camp out to see the movie. And then there's those people who take it too far...the ones who are scary obsessed.

Well said Agent! I am right there with you. Always been a SW fan and it will remain my most loved film saga until the day I die. I've read a ton of the EU books and comics, collected the toys since the early 90's, and nearly went too far during the release of ROTS. I've since calmed down and am just casually Die-hard. I wouldn't camp out to see the movie either, but I guess if I stood in those damn lines at Celebration 3 and used to own a Stormtrooper costume... I would be considered hardcore... :lol

But then again... I do know where the story ends and Real life begins. Some people really go too far. Honestly though, it seems to happen to more Trekkies than Star Wars fans...

Aren't Trekkies at the bottom of the Geek totem pole?

Disclaimer: Not to offend any Star Trek fans because I don't mean this to generalize to all Trekkies.

:lol :lol

It is kinda true... I mean... I would say it would be...

Star Wars fans
BSG fans
Alien saga fans
Stargate/Tron fans
Trekkies

I think it's just the times... Trek fans haven't had something to be excited about in a long time. It's far from being their heyday.

Who knows what the future may bring though. I mean, before the relaunch of BSG, it was pretty low on the totum pole... below Stargate and Tron... below Trek... Pretty much as low as you can go.. NOW look at it! I can say that it changed my opinion of that universe. Now I LOVE BSG.

I would consider myself a die-hard fan. I quote the movies more times than I care to admit. I collect from poster to cookie jars to paper party plates!!?? Right now I'm finishing "Dark Lord: The Rise Of Darth Vader" book. Come to think of it, I can say the same about Old Monster Movies too.:D

I guess this best describes my level of fanaticism.

I didn't go to the midnight showing of ROTS.

I did sit in bed and watch the clock turn to 12:00 and get depressed.

Or...

My friends, wife and I did take the days off from work to see each prequel movie on opening day.

None of us were in costume.

I saw ROTS and TPM at midnight, I had to miss AOTC's midnight showing because my cousin and I made a pact to see it together the first time, but she couldn't go until opening day. Actually, I saw TPM at midnight, when I had a final exam in high school at 8 o'clock the next morning, then again at 2 when I got out of school.

I used to border on the scary obsessed for a little while.
