Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I literally just read an article in my newsfeed that said this movie is one of the most anticipated movies of '18 and that "many fans" feel like this will boost the franchise. Is Disney now paying bloggers just to post pre-damage control? Everything I'd seen previously indicated everyone in the know thought this would be a hot mess.

Wouldn't surprise me.

They'll call you a tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist, but this article popped up in the past 24 hours when TLJ criticisms online were at an all time high,

https://www.google.com/amp/amp.time...ay-gone-far-phantom-menace-2200077?source=dam

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ex...Phantom-Menace-George-Lucas-The-Last-Jedi/amp

https://www.google.com/amp/www.foxn...oo-far-with-star-wars-phantom-menace.amp.html

Most bizzare headlines and talking points since TLJ's opening "best since ESB, no, better than ESB!" BS. Talk about random.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I don't understand the point of those articles. The Phantom Menace documentary has been available on YouTube for years and obviously was part of some DVD release wayyyy back.

These quotes are almost 20 years old. How is this news worthy?

There was also an article very recently that completely denied the existence of the backlash. It was basically saying "if you hear about a backlash, don't trust any of it, it doesn't exist". Wtf.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Yeah, makes no sense. First articles that pop up when you type in George Lucas or look through a Star Wars newsfeed though.

Deflection at it's best.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Counter-programming, guess its a good idea if you put 2 to 3 hundred mil out on a flick.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

NOOOOOooooooo. I'll be pissed if they waste a good Fett scene on this fake Han Solo.

Now you don't like the Solo movie? You know you'll love it.

I'm betting the farm on the one-offs. The trilogy has lost hope for me.

I'd love to see a great hand-to-hand fight between Fett and Solo. Or maybe Fett being captured by "police" and how he kicks *** and escapes.

Maybe this movie will even establish Canto Bight... oh, goodie, goodie... *claps hands*

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

After this I hope they delve into some not so mainstream Star Wars stuff for the filler years between main numbered features. Maybe some movies based on EU characters, etc.. hell, they could do the character Sam Witwer plays in the video games. How easy is the casting at that point when you have the actual actor alive and capable?

The demand for a Starkiller movie is so high among fans of the EU, I feel like they won't do it just to screw with them :lol

Also, if they did it... Well, first they can't call him Starkiller anymore because that was the name of the base in TFA, and second they'd have to tone his powers way down.

Personally I'm more interested in going back 3000 years to the Old Republic, when there were literally armies of Sith and Jedi. Those were the days.
Lore-wise that stuff would be crazy. It would expand the universe so much unlike what they are doing at the moment.

I love that idea, the online video game that came out a few years back had lots of cool ancient"stormtrooper" looking guys, Darth Malgus, Revan, etc... Lots of stuff that fans like, because its interesting, leave the core characters alone, because when they misstep with the team supreme, too many fans feel like they got kicked in the nuts.

Oh yeah there are some amazing concepts in that game. Visually, story-wise, powers, lore, weapons...

Actually it influenced TFA and even TLJ quite heavily in terms of design. Kylo's sleeves in TFA for example are straight out of the game, or Rey's clothes that show the shoulders, my characters have worn stuff like that (I don't play anymore). Same with Holdo's dress, the neck part especially, I had something exactly like that at some point.

But the most obvious influence was actually Kylo's unstable lightsaber. The game has derelict crystals that generate this kind of effect, and the concept was introduced years before the release of TFA. Maybe even in KotoR which is an even older game.

I feel very meh about that idea. It'll just mean there'll be tonnes of expendable jedi and sith who can be killed with ease - seems like that'll make them...far less special...and demystify whatever may be left to demystify. Doesn't really excite me...neither of course does Empire 2.0 VS Rebel Alliance 2.0.

So I guess all I'm interested in is OT-set stuff like Rogue One. I don't seem to care about Star Wars beyond that.

If BF is the antagonist in this movie Han will have to be on the run the entire time like the Connors in the Terminator. I really fear what KK will do with both of them though. She has this compulsion to make the male characters look bad. She can't help herself.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Isn’t that guy Boba Fett or his friend? Who collects all that weird stuff for him.

He’s got the braided rope belt like Fett

Yeah, it's going to be Toxic Masculinity all over the place. Han will constantly make poor decisions because he can't come to terms with his feelings, and accept hugs from people. Boba will be too self-sufficient as a bounty hunter. Lando will fail to acknowledge the wisdom of female authority figures, who demand unquestioned obedience without ever explaining the context or purpose of their demands. Chewbacca will hump anything that moves, objectifying people without the slightest concern for who they are on the inside. Hopefully we'll have at least a few non-white female non-binary protagonists who, in a non-chauvinistic way, can explain to all of the men how their inability to empathize prevents them from seeing the right way to do things.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Fett will be in this as the 'Vader in RO'.

Maybe there will be an excellent fight and it will be the best minute and a half Fett's had, ever.

lol so true.

Fett will be all video game amazing, but like Vader, fail. Han Solo will still get away. :lol

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Is that a fking Bambi ?

Yep, this is the beginning of Disney's "innocent crossovers", that way by the time Disney ramps up to the 2022 release of GotG/Star Wars Saves the Universe crossover extravaganza, it seems natural. :lecture

looks like they were trying to recreate this Scene from the 80s movie Altered States or a nod or something
