Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Yikes - the blondish looking hair made me think that was supposed to be Luke in the bed (like Han was "there" first.):lol

Why didn't they make cartoon Han's hair the same color as Leia's or at least put a Han vest hanging on the bedpost?:slap

Gonna take me a few minutes to get over that.:horror:rotfl

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Apparently Solo is tracking for an opening 4-day weekend of $160 - $170 million. I'm not sure what's being tracked seeing that no tickets have been sold yet, but there you go.

Even if it's as badly frontloaded as TLJ was (which made approximately 2.8 times its opening weekend), that's still a domestic gross of around $450 - $475 million. Not bad for what most likely would be considered a financial failure.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Now with IW's monster success, I'm really curious where Solo is going to land.

Will it be out for three weeks and then disappear like so many other "summer" movies?

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

It's different with Rogue One, though. It didn't come out during the summer movie season, which means that Solo could potentially burn out even faster.

That's why I asked the question. I can see Solo getting trampled by summer glut. Especially if its just OK.

Solo will be very big- I just wonder how fast IW will lose steam in the next couple weeks

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Something about the Falcon being shiny and new just doesn't ring true. Didn't Lando say it was the fastest "hunk o' junk" in the galaxy?

Your gif is the most amazing of all superhero shots...love it

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

The biggest question with Solo is will non-fans show up to something that doesn't have a lot of the visual trappings of a SW movie?

People go on about RO as if it stood on its own but it had Vader, Tarkin, Leia, the Death Star, and pretty much every iconic visual from ANH on its side including all the classic vehicles. A movie that was set inside ANH (same overall story drive, locations, many characters) is not a good comparison for Solo. Solo - for the non-fan - really only has Chewy and the Falcon in that department.

The one thing I'm responding to about Solo is it looks like it might be fun - which is in severely short supply in SW movies these days. RO had like a half dozen half-smile sardonic moments passing for "fun" amidst sweaty people giving dour speeches then dying.

When Richie lost his hair, that cap became part of the look.

And jeez I know he has health problems, but it would be great to see GL lose the weight.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I think Solo will bring a hell of a lot more people out that RO did, simply on name recognition alone.
If the gals like the new Han, it will do even better.

If it’s got humor and fighting scenes worth a damn...even better.....

But bringing non fans out , is a simple feet. If that’s your target, I wouldn’t expect much from the film.

Yeah, it’s arguably the most popular SW hero and, frankly, tons of SW imagery in the marketing - Han, Lando, Chewie, the Falcon, Star Destroyers, Stormtroopers, AT-STs, landspeeders, speeder bikes, aliens, droids...pretty much status quo SW plus Woody Harrelson and the mother of dragons.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

1. Starfield Teaser
2. Advance with the word "Solo" exposing the image of Young Han Solo with blaster
3. Payoff Poster with all the characters.

Sorry I can't seem to post the images right now.
