Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)
Make all the excuses you want. A man doesn't abandon his family. A man protects his family. While his wife was fighting a war and when his son needed him most he was out transporting contraband.
All of this. I'm 41, when I was 21 I was a drug dealing POS whose only goal was to keep enough money for myself and my drug habit. At 41, I'm a licensed Art Teacher whose goal is to promote the arts and children's confidence they gain when problem solving creating projects. Point is people change, situations and tragedy can inform who people become. Han and Leia had a child who showed tremendous gifts with the Force but also a dark side. They sent him to train to be a Jedi under his uncle Luke. Ben became a monster and destroyed everything they were trying to rebuild.
Han and Leia both reacted to tragedy by going their separate paths, one buried herself in forming a Resistance against the growing First Order and Han retreated to smuggling. I know some hate this change but given the context of the situation who are we to judge? They both dealt with tragedy and their relationship didn't survive, nor could anything be done about their son who basically disappeared to join Snoke, become Kylo Ren and become the driving force to spread a new evil across the galaxy.
To end my rant, Grace uses and creates controversy where their shouldn't even be any to promote herself and get hits on her YouTube channel. She doesn't understand character development, nor does she attempt to even back up her claims. I truly cannot stand her but she is smart enough to know Star Wars is a hot button issue so she will have her dumb opinions shared and get hits because people love to argue.
Ending my Star Wars rant for today. I truly hope most of you enjoy it as much as I did. Don't expect to be moved or to see something important. Solo is a fun fantasy western. Key word: fun.
