Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

It's the second best Disney flick after RO. In many ways it's even better than RO ...

I agree. I still prefer RO but where some say RO has two slow acts and then a rocking final act, Solo is the opposite with two rocking first acts then a slow final act.

But the re-watchability on Solo will be huge because it just moves so fast for almost 2 hours.

Your sarcasm meter is in need of an adjustment lol

I meant everything I wrote there.

Silly Wor-Gar tricks are for kids.

I guess this means you didn’t like Solo?

No, I loved it. Quite surprised by it. My better-written review is miles back now.

I mentioned you were right: I loved Two-Tubes making a return.

Your review just felt.... I dunno, odd. I thought you were being facetious. Glad I was wrong.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

In the cartoon or books, how do they explain Maul surviving being cut in half and falling off the platform in TPM?

Lots of objectionable/questionable things in the EU over the last 25 years.....but I always felt it was egregious to undo Maul's death.

Mother****er was cut in HALF. He was dead before he hit the bottom of that endless chasm his body parts fell down!! It was probably the most iron clad death in the entire SW saga other than Beru and Owen!!

And then there was an "Elseworlds" story in some comic where he had robot legs or spider legs or something cause the fans wanted to see more of him. But that was an imaginary story. And another decade or so they thought, "ah screw it, let's make that canon."

But to the all the casual SW fans out there, the vast majority of the movie going public, they never read any of that crap or saw those cartoons. They only saw this guy get bisected in a red mist and go flailing down a pit almost 20 years ago. DEAD.

So how could anyone not just groan and say "wtf?" when they saw him in that stupid ridiculous cameo at the end of the movie?

Whatever. That scene was just the cherry on top of a diarrhea sundae.

I missed your review! :gah:

I want to know what Khev and JAWS thought of the cameo and if they agree with me that it should’ve been Fett instead.

JAWS loves the PT so he’s probably ok with it lol

That didn’t bother you Wor?

It did me!

The cameo? I hated it. But I knew about that one before I went in so I was prepared.

It should have been Jabba, Hear that laugh first, then his visage appears barely fitting in the hologram. Would have been a great way to tease Jabba... and then you'd know for sure Han and Qi-ra will cross paths again.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Sigh....I guess I'm just an old Gen. Xer; I don't see the value in watching youtube reviews of people disecting movies or products, offering their unsolicited opinions. I don't feel validated by others agreeing with my like of something; or personally attacked when someone doesnt. There does seem to be a few members on this site that do.

Yeah, I’m the same. Almost never watch those, and the few times I have I regretted it. :lol the worst is the limitless time they have to discuss, nobody knows how to edit down their thoughts.

I rarely watch the figure review videos either though. I just skip through them to see parts I’m interested in seeing.

SOLO could have been the greatest SW movie to date and it still would have failed. 50% of the SW audience is sending KK a message via SOLO.

But it wasn’t the best movie ever or even close. Maybe these smaller-scale adventure stories are not what people want out of SW. I liked it but felt it was more like a TV movie compared with the epic ness of Rogue One and all the others, at the moment I’d probably put it above the prequels but nothing else.

I thought the film was a 1000 times better then TLJ but it’s definitely not a must see movie. It will surely be forgotten in five years after the next 100 “a Star Wars Story” films are released.

They could have taken this script and characters and placed it in the old west and it would have been the same movie maybe even better.

There is nothing memorable in this movie at all that will stand the test of time for repeat viewings. But it’s definitely a better Star Wars film then TLJ.

I’d go see Deadpool 2 or Infinity Wars again before I would go see Solo, but I would watch it again on tv when it’s released, maybe. Lol.

Edited for grammar

I’m still in the “this film wasn’t needed camp,” which wasn’t changed after watching the movie so I guess that might swing toward the forgettable territory. The Kessel run was great though and a few other moments worked well. I actually thought the mud war was a bit over the top and didn’t feel very much like Star Wars but wasn’t bad and I guess was something new.

That train sequence made me think of that game with Dash Rengar.

Kept waiting to hear the dreaded IG-88 sounds.... but they used the Probots instead.

I didn’t know so it was quite the traumatic experience lol

Jabba or Fett either would’ve worked and actually MADE SENSE to the current and future plot!

Maul is DEAD end of story sheesh.

Yup lol

That senquence was thrilling and more importantly ended awesome!

Is that it? It’s generational?

My kids watch YouTube all the time.....I can barely stand to watch 2 minutes of what is entertaining them...

The worst offender....watching other people play video games? When did that become fun?

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I'm not sure where to ask this, but since this thread is active, I'll ask here. I'd like to do an action heroes tournament of famous movie characters. 32 characters, a bracket of 16 on each side. All rounds would take place in one thread. Where is the best place to post that thread.

Sandbox general?

Great idea...

But aren’t you the guy who said Luke gently made the Gamorrean Guards pass out on his way into Jabba’s palace?

#fakefanalert :lol

He didn't choke the guards to sleep, sir.
