Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Doesn't seem like a good idea to leave Luke out of the last film in the Skywalker saga. I don't think most are invested enough in Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo on their own. Some OT character support would go a long way.

Mark has washed his hands of it, it seems. He's not pulling his punches anymore. But you're right. If you do the math.

Just got back. Fully enjoyed it. Confirmed to me just how bad TFA and TLJ are. Like RO this movie felt like SW. Fun and enjoyable. Not better then any OT but almost as good as RO and better then all the PT. Of course expectations and excitement could not have been lower after TFA and TLJ. I was beginning to thing RO was a happy mistake. Also I have only viewed it once and repeats viewings could bring it down a notch but I doubt it. Thought it dragged a little from the meeting of Lando's droid to the underground mining scene but thought it picked back up right at the outside escape and Kessel run. Thought the actor playing Solo nailed it. Loved Lando and was shocked that I liked Woody as much as I did. Just a fun movie.

The trinity is alive and well. :yess:

Yeah I thought WH was engaging in this.

Yeah I mean how did LFL go from the offensive announcement that they were even *making* a Solo prequel to the offensive announcement that they weren't casting the Ingruber kid to the offensive announcement that they were *stunt-casting* Woody Harrelson to this:

Thought the actor playing Solo nailed it...and was shocked that I liked Woody as much as I did.

It's truly surreal.

So what'd you think of Maul JAWS?

Not surprised to hear JAWS liked it. It's a good flick.

I was surprised that a friend of mine hated it. I'm not sure what he was expecting.

I definitely need to see it again. Poor little film needs all the help it can get. I saw RO 3 times in the theater -- which is a record for me in recent times -- so this deserves at least twice.

So what'd you think of Maul JAWS?
I see some were shocked by it, thinking it was bd or forced. As a watcher of The Clone Wars and knowing about events in Rebels I thought it was a cool addition and not out of place. I thought his saber igniting was much more forced :lol Of course I knew about the cameo so that may have helped reduce the shock.

I was expecting them to go way harder on the wink-winks. Considering the prelude in Last Crusade, I was shocked they didn't even show how he got the chin scar.

No kidding especially as you said after what we got in Last Crusade (which I know Kasdan wasn't a part of but still.)

No chin scar, no iconic vest, no Fett, Jabba, Falcon upgrades, nerf herds, gundarks, "you better never pull a gun on me again Greedo," no Jedi charlatan exposed as practicing simple tricks and nonsense, etc.

I’ll admit that when it comes to call backs the more the merrier for me but I also understand that i’m in the minority.

I liked it even better the 2nd time.

2 there are no more no less.

I’ll probably go see it a 3rd time lol

At first I thought him igniting that saber for no freaking reason was gross abuse of a cameo but then I realized that Maul’s only attribute IS HIS SABER!

Remove his saber and you just eliminated his identity.

Jeremy Jahns is like a kid who just discovered Star Wars and put aside his Ritalin to voraciously devour everything Star Wars in a short time span and now makes videos expounding on a lot of stuff that we already knew.

I like that he edits out every breath between words so he seems particularly hyper.
