Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Your alignment of movies just makes so much sense EVEN WITH 5 hours of story missing (AOTC/ROTS). :lol

Only you could make me accept TPM lol

:lol

AOTC/ROTS connects to nothing. They don't connect to TPM (they essentially retconned Nute Gunray's defeat at the end of TPM, completely ignored Anakin wanting to go back to Tatooine and free slaves, see all the stars, etc.) nor do they connect to the OT (totally contradict Leia's memory of her mother, Anakin never told Owen he wanted Luke to have his lightsaber, etc.)

AOTC and ROTS truly are in their own little crappy SW pocket universe and because of the first gen digital cameras and excessive green screen they don't even match any other SW film from a visual standpoint either. TPM links to Solo/RO much better than it does to those two films.

Well, to be fair they didn't ignore those things. Anakin did come back in AOTC to free his mother when he had the chance (limited by the Jedi way). Seeing the stars is foreshadowing as we know who he will become. He get's to see the stars but not in the naive way his inner child wanted to.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it Gunray in AOTC that gives Doku the plans for the Death Star? He was never defeated but hiding.

Bail Organa takes Leia in because his "wife always wanted a daughter." We've never got much about Bail's wife, or when or how she died. Leia didn't know Padme was her mom, she thought Bail's wife was. She could had died a little after they took her in. We just have never got the answer.

While I tend to mostly agree, ROTS still looks fantastic today. TPM did feel more like SW but that's because the techniques used to shoot that movie were almost the same as the OT. AOTC is the worst looking of the 3 but ROTS greatly approved upon that tech.

First production still of Rian Johnson's Canto Bight trilogy showing hardened slaves mounting an uprising against their oppressive masters:

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

TPM's underwater sequences *do* remind me of Solo's action sequences... because of how boring they are!!

There's never any sense of danger - we know our heroes are going to escape, and they do so all too quickly and easily.

In fact the lack of "menace" was my main gripe with TPM.

Khev has successfully pulled a Palps divide-and-conquer. He stoked my inner disdain for Ep I by dissing II and III!
