Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

As it stands there are really only two things I genuinely hate:

1. People who call out other members by name

2. karamazov80

See it's always the posts that crack myself up the most that no one ever responds to. Newbies are probably "Wow what a mean mod." :banghead :lol

If Lord and Miller get a Director's cut it will be like a tree falling in the woods.

Of course, even if in the longest of shots that Lord and Miller were to qualify, apparently all of their efforts would be for naught. According to The Wrap, if the filmmaking duo were allowed to do their own cut of the film, Disney would be under no obligation to distribute it.

Hmm, maybe that's why Khev and JYE love it so much. They may have been in the right. . .state of mind at the time, while I was ill-prepared. :(

if you gon' see star wars, ya gotta light up a star destroyer before hand. you've been doing this wrong since the 70's?!

Alotta people assume they didn't hit the 90% mark and Disney won't have to grant them a DC but with just three weeks to go I'm betting they def crossed it.

I think this is going to be Superman II all over again and they'll have Howard reshoot the entire movie in an effort to bypass the DGA.

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

No director does 90% of a tentpole movie that is 40-50% Second Unit VFX. It's all such a ridiculously moot point anyway because Howard will obviously direct more than 10% of the finished film going forward anyway. And as has been said multiple times now even if there was a "fired directors' cut" Disney would still control distribution and simply bury it.

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Richard Lester re-shot ~31% of Superman II to qualify as 51% of the material in the film (Donner was ~80% through shooting). Once he had reached that point he was able to replace Richard Donner on the Director's credit.

The more I think of it Superman II is the wrong example. This is probably more like Back to the Future. They actually did re-shoot almost the whole move-to-date when they fired Eric Sholtz. They were 4 weeks into filming when MJF (their fist pick) was made available.

Howard is going to view all of the material to date and if he says re-shoot everything LFL will back him up.

Yeah, I see the finished film giving Howard sole directing credit.

Nobody except you cares.
No one will beg for that other cut.
If people love this one then everyone will automatically forget they had to change directors.
You have to understand, you will never ever ever see that other cut

Wrong, bruh. The press is actually being very encouraging and supportive of Lord and Miller and the **** position they're in.

Not everyone is ready to gobble up whatever the studio says they should.

Dont trust the press

Lol even the unofficial Lucasfilm fan club isn't backing their recent strategy.

*Guess I'm not the only one who thinks Gareth Edwards played ball after all.

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Hopefully Howard just starts over from scratch. They've got the time and the money to do so. I'd prefer not to have scenes shifting styles as they cut back and forth between directors. If Alden (not a suit,) Kasdan (not a suit,) and Kennedy (a suit with almost unparalled credibility) saw that Lord and Miller were going to destroy the hard earned respectability that has finally been restored to the brand then kudos to them for taking appropriate action. Who cares what a couple of clickbait bloggers want to theorize about. If a couple Deadpool fans want to see that same sensibility brought to Star Wars there are plenty of Robot Chicken episodes they can pull up on YouTube.

This is what I think the bloggers above really nail: If these "jokers" were really destroying this movie, why did it take five months for the suits to see this?

That's where this Disney narrative falls apart the most. This isn't Superman II were Donner rarely had suits on set watching his every move and when dailies couldn't be edited together and watched right away. Kennedy and The Kasdans were there every step of the way - yet we're supposed to believe they allowed Lord and Miller to compile five months worth of crap footage before finally saying "okay guys, you're destroying the hard earned respectability that has finally been restored to the brand so we have to fire you."

It just doesn't stick (even if you're not wearing the tin foil hat).

So, you're saying he might be the President?

Ill prepared can't be it because a-dev had the worst seat in the house and he loved RO.

He had to sit behind the Mayweather Irish delegation and next to the SJW coalition for Ireland Star Wars group.

Solo began live action filming on May 18 on the Canary Islands. LFL is changing course after one month. Existing Pre-production and SFX work will all very likely be leveraged by Howard.

Compare this to another production - Game of Thrones - where HBO filmed a pilot episode and then re-cast key roles and re-filmed much of the episode. That car wreck troubled production has gained critical acclaim and lasted seven seasons.

Everyone is saying Lord and Miller were five months into shooting.

*Apparently Principal Photography began on February 20, so its more like four months.

So what are you saying then? That L&M made the film that Disney wanted and five months later the studio changed its mind? Or are you saying that the story and production was crap from the beginning? I mean, the casting choice was pretty bad, imo. That's like a major element of the film right there, who's going to play Solo, and they picked a guy who looks nothing like Ford, yet RO is using CGI to bring back original characters to maintain the continuity, something the Solo film completely ignored for some reason.
