Solid start for the season. I hope Jimmy Smits is utilized better here than Dexter or Star Wars. He's had a rough stretch since NYPD Blue.

The scene with TIg's daughter Dawn was messed up. I guess Rachel Miner is done with her recurring role. I can't wait to see Tig even this score.

Pope looks like a decent villain. Harold Perrineau was good in Oz, I'm sure he'll deliver on SOA.

I thought having the Irish demand to go through Clay was a copout for keeping Perlman on the show and the whole cartel being CIA was as lame as it gets. Sutter's a great writer so I'm hoping he writes his way out of that garbage. He's better than that.

Agree on all counts. The CIA??? My eyes almost fell out from rolling. At least Pope is making it personal. The Mayans were lame last season, the Niners will hopefully be credible bad guys.

If Machette is just going to get out of a car and talk every few episodes they can cut that sh-t out.

That scene definitely set the bar this season. Pope is going to be one of those love to hate bad guys. . . not even that, I just hate that guy already, but I can tell he's going to be a great villian. Reminds me of Zoebelle, how SAMCRO can't compete with that, because SAMCRO is just about strength and rarely about resourcefulness, and they can't compete with head games and 'political moves'. In any case, I can't wait to see SAMCRO even that score.

But, they've got the Irish and the Cartel at their back so hopefully they can use that to exert some force, Pope already implied he can't stand up to Galindo. . .

Jeez, I've just realized I am a total fanboy for this show now. Jeebus help me.

Most epic season premier ever. So much going on.

I gotta agree the scene with Tig's daughter was so wrong. You know he is gonna settle the score ten-fold. Don;t think the Niner's are gonna be an issue very long.

Still would like to see Opie at Jax's left. Though he is too much of a lose cannon right now.

Gemma's new-found friendship with Nero is only gonna spell trouble.

Just watching Clay you can tell he is just sitting back waiting for everything to implode so he can challenge leadership.

They could have cast the role of Pope better than using Harold Perrineau. Can't get the image of Michael from Lost outta my head.

And it was good to see Phil got patched during the downtime. Though I was a little worried he was gonna bite it right at the beginning.

What I don't get is...

Given they're essentially CIA assets, why wouldn't Romeo just cancel the arrest warrants on them? It's not like the police don't already know the feds are watching the Sons anyway.

that's what i was thinking also, but it may take them a while to get that done, or maybe they haven't even heard about it. I think they all know it's BS and i'm surprised they didn't get in touch with them to get the charges dropped.

have to say though that this was one awesome premier.:yess:

My point exactly.

If Bobby walked after being imprisoned for turning Caruso into swiss cheese, I don't see why they wouldn't be.

Jax should've made that phone call before riding off.

The biggest 'holy crap' moment IMHO is still at the beginning of season three when Hale its killed by having his head crushed by an SUV.

Well, Oakland PD was on the way, and they knew PD was on Pope's payroll, so it's likely that once they got picked up they wouldn't even have made it to jail. So, they HAD to take off. Even if they had made the call, it's unlikely Romeo could've cleared it before the PD picked them up.

Also, Romeo can't be flexing too much political power else Pope realizes that someone with some serious juice is behind SAMCRO, and Romeo is trying to keep his CIA connect on the down-low. He starts throwing that card everywhere, and SAMCRO becomes untouchable, and people start asking questions, sooner or later, people will figure out Romeo's double-dealing.

eh.. not really when you think about it. They trust him. They know Clay is solid. They don't trust Jax. At all. Especially after dealing with him when his kid was taken. So it makes sense in that context.

Sorry if I'm pointing out the obvious here, but you guys understand that Romero and Luis aren't really CIA agents, right. They're criminals allowed to do their dirt in exchange for doing dirt for the CIA. So it's not like they have offices in Langley, VA. The CIA is essentially using a real drug cartel as a PMC and then turning a blind eye to their illegal activities. So it's all hush-hush and under the table.

They're not "assets". They're not providing valuable info, etc. They're criminals. They're a real drug cartel. They really run guns and drugs. They really kill people. That whole deal with the IRA they're setting up with SAMCRO, that's not some sting operation. They're actually trying to get high powered weapons for their illegal activities.

That's my point.

The CIA is using their organization to do illegal stuff they themselves can't be involved in. In return, they essentially get immunity and a free pass to do all their gangsta ****.

The two are CIA agents with badges though. The CIA wouldn't issue badges to assets (those working under a CIA operation). They're CIA agents working with the cartel, which, if you read up on Fast and Furious (which is what I'm assuming Sutter's basing this on), isn't far fetched.

Agreed. But again, what I'm saying is they're NOT assets and they're NOT working under a CIA operation. There is no "operation". What that cartel is doing for the CIA is 100% illegal. It's wet work. They're essentially mercs. The "work" they do isn't publicized. Because it would cause a huge ****storm if people found out (for a fact) that the CIA was allowing a drug cartel to operate legally in exchange for illegal services.

Yes they have badges.

But like I said, that's just window dressing. I'll put this in spoilers just in case.

Why do you think..
Jax said he would expose their cartel's affiliation with the CIA as opposed to saying "I'll expose you TWO as CIA agents"? They've organized kidnappings (Jax' wife) which was supposed to end in murder remember, and they've also killed people outright on the show. Still CIA agents!?

I took that as threatening to go public with his knowledge. Again, I think it's a Fast and Furious reference.
