How does this change things for business like Toy Anxiety ?

They solicit business through the board but don't sell on here directly.

$30 isnt a big deal people. Quit whining! Ya dont like it? Go somewhere else to sell your s+@t! If theres more accountability on customs, I'll pay that with a smile on my face. I'll even Mod the thing if Dave wants me too to keep these customizers from taking 6 months to a year to get out an item. Thats my only concern.

Great christmas gift santa freak!
Damn that suck if even non pro Will have to pay, tought it was a community not a business... Not that it Will keep me away of the forum, as my main reason to come here is the community itself. I find it cool to be able to see and buy not to make profit but avoid fleabay prices or find stuff not on fleabay...
Im not really thinking about my sale, but mostly other seller who Will not post their stuff making less and less stuff available for freaks...

i doubt it Will give a safer sale environnement.
Make it mandatory that sellers give all their contact infos would be much better.

For the whole custom thing it could be a good thing even if i dont really see the différence with the interest thread... Especially now that most are not asking money upfront.
It Will maybe help some of them organise their thread better tho, by not having wip and sales in the same thread.

Well good for those who are ok to pay.
And **** you if you dont like that some are not ok with it and start calling names.

Come on people it's less than 0.09 cents a day. I bet most of you throw away a nickel or dime into a cup on the side of a register when you buy your coffee in the morning. Some of you probably throw those pennies in the street just because they are pennies. if the Premium Membership can Rein in some of the concerns we have in the customs section , that alone is worth those pennies ! the other perks are just a bonus.

I dont mind this as much now but something has to be done about the people who take money and months go by and you hear nothing from them.

$30 is more than fair. I don't sell very often on here, but when I do, it's been painless. Plus I'd rather sell to a fellow freak than someone on eBay. I will wait to see what other "perks" are offered with the PM before I sign up.

But I just like coming in here and shooting the **** with other collectors. I won't be leaving this forum anytime soon.

:duff and Merry Christmas!

This is the biggest problem on here and my only concern. That's why I don't order alot of custom stuff. I understand having to wait to get something, but having to wait MONTHS to get any updates or any communication from the customizer is an issue.

Depends on the customizer and the customer. If you go in knowing it will be months but that the customizer always delivers (like Beto), then you just have to accept it without complaint or not buy.

Like Dave himself has said, there's really no way for him to say force Beto or some other customizer to only offer when the figure is close to production. Just not the way some of these guys work. That said, no doubt there is some risk for the customer in this model. I also have to accept that if something happens to Beto, my money's most likely gone. :lol But main thing is that's not on Dave and no way he can 'protect' me from the unknowable.

Totally understandable. I was just saying more communication is what is needed. Just updates on where the custom stands, timelines, etc. That would seem to calm alot of people down and ease their worries.

This idea does sound like it will be an improvement.

I dont see how that is going to change by making people pay.
For some customizers its a hobby they do on their free time, when you know that you choose to agree or not to wait.
The pro ones nowadays make interest list only and ask money when the stuff is ready.

I just like the idea that it will force some customizers to cean their thread and make it more easy to know nabout their creation.
It will nto make the sales safer nor make the customs arrives sooner.
If you think scammers wont shaft you because of this you're dreaming.
Even on ebay people still scam and they have the paypal protection to back you up (even if there are flaws) here you will have none of that.

First it was ok to post "best offer" sales, now this...
Just enforce the already set rules first, or like i said before make mandatory that seller give all their infos (name, email, adress, phone) before selling.

And yep its mostly not a money issue, for me its on principle.
Pay to have collectors basically helping each other fund their passion souds bad to me.
i dont like the whole idea behind it.
Pro sellers, stores ok but the rest, not cool.

Communication is key ! When it goes into months with no progress report or just a check in , it puts people on edge . I say the preorder to delivery should be extended for the customs section to 60 or 90 days with a one time extension. Only a non refundable deposit should be required with full balance due within 30days of delivery . I know I'm dreaming but what the hey !

:exactly::lecture

Been there myself dealing with customs (still waiting to hear on progress of some full figures from one customizer after putting a major deposit) and realize that these things take time but after awhile it's worrisome when I don't hear anything on it. Your statement should be the SSF model for the custom sections.

Good question. As they also give us a jumpstart on new products before updating their website, they also provide a great service to the SSF community - I wouldn't like to see this relationship damaged.

Yeah, because OSW began charging dealers a fee and TA was out in a jiffy. That's when they came here to thank the Freaks for being supportive.

Due to constant requests for us to pay to post on the OneSixthWarriors board, we will no longer post our updates there. This is our home. Thanks Freaks, you're the best!

I really don't see the big deal here. Sellers can simply add the cost into the price of the item...case closed.

Should be ZERO expectation of this limiting the time to produce any custom items. This has been a long running problem here and as long as guys throw their cash out there, they better be able to take the risk. All you can do is request updates and hope that the guys time and integrity equals a reasonable time table.

A rule of thumb I use is to avoid the guys that have multiple custom offerings out there. Sign up for one maybe two items from them. Not everything they offer. They are usually gonna have long lead times so don't sign up or pay for a bunch of what's being offered...they will take a significant amount of the artist' free time to complete. It's bad enough waiting for one item, let alone several from the same guy. You know, spread your risk. Invest in another custom from someone else.

Well, they should have a paid banner on the front page anyway. They are getting around having to pay for advertising by letting Dave shoulder the cost.

This is a captive, focused audience. If they want to drive visits to their site, they should be willing to buck up and give a few bucks to do so.

It's not even a monthly charge! Even if it were, $1 a day would be reasonable for a company. Hell, when I do shop there I spend at least twice that per visit! It only makes sense when buying parted out items to spend enough to justify the shipping. :huh

There's no issue here. Dave, launch the new site. :slap

Great idea, Dave. I never understood the free reign for other people who capitalize on your forum to make a boat load of money. I'm willing to bet there are some people on this forum whose gross sales from this forum alone has exceeded $10,000 and I'd wager there are 1 or 2 who have made near $50k. Great for them, but why shouldn't Dave get a cut?

I wish there was a way to legitimize the custom area somehow. I thought of suggesting charging a fee to a customizer per new commission thread created, something like $10 just to deter the creation of a bunch of threads. But that would only be passed on to customers as an up front fee anyway.
