No, just as with ebay who takes 13% of every sale (including PP) it will still be "buyer beware." However if someone has had to pay a fee to sell things, there will be more accountability.

More accountability is maybe a better choice of words. So yeah I agree. The sad part is having to charge at all to sell. I know from what Ive seen the customizing stuff has gotten out of hand. So I guess this is the best way to combat that.

I have said in the past that I would "donate" or pay for enhanced features or membership. I stand by that. I just hope there is more to it. Sounds like there is. :duff

I agree with this. I don't mind donating to making the forum better and making it a more enjoyable and peaceful place. I've made friends with some pretty great people and had a lot of fun here, so $30 is no big deal to me if it's a donation to enhance the forum for its users.

I do think it's a shame that selling has to be a paid service if it is due to the custom stuff getting out of hand. I've never gotten involved in the custom commissions or anything, so that side of the hobby is alien to me. I do, however, like to have the option to sell something here if I need to, but it's never in any kind of large volume. I'm a collector and usually want to keep everything I have if I can, honestly. I don't think I sold anything this year and in years past it's usually between two and three figures at the most.

I just don't see why the selling is a part of the 30 dollars. Make premium membership a thing and give them the perks, but don't alienate the people who make minimal money by taking a third of their profit. At least for the customs, not everyone sells multitudes of expensive head sculpts where 30 dollars is nothing.

I'd be all for paying to use the actual SALE section because the majority of things sold there are quite expensive and the fee would be less of an issue, but I really really disagree with having to pay for sales of custom stuff.

For custom sales, fine. But to make the fee mandatory for anyone who wants to sell items is a terrible idea. I'm feeling alienated already, considering eBay is... well, eBay and not a lot of collectible boards have traffic as good as SSF.

:goodpost: The forum already feels different (less welcoming?) from this upcoming change. Not that I'm complaining, but that's my two cents.

I dont get it, you will need pay a anual fee of like $30, and one % of each sale like ebay? For seeling stuffs

$30 sounds dandy to me. :rock And ps, if this site was owned by ssc; the customs interests section would have c & ds left and right. :lol

Thanks Dave for everthing man!

I get the impression many of you don't sell many high end items on eBay, where you think $30 is this unreasonable cost to sell. One PF on eBay is going to cost you more in fees than what Dave is suggesting for a year to sell here, right? Plus, you get other perks.

Really? The way I see it is the forum will benefit from not having members post-pad their way into the commerce section, sell a whole bunch of figures at inflated prices and then sod off.

The commerce section is a mess and needed attention - a fee seems to be a sensible way to go. Also, Dave has said that the fee will provide other benefits. I haven't talked directly with Dave on this, but I believe one of those benefits will be to freely post ****y gifs outside of the sandbox.

But what if you've been here for quite a few months? At that point, you've already declared through your post count and activities that you're an active member and aren't just here to sell items. In cases like that, the fee (regardless of how small) seems like a very poor idea. Besides, if $30 really is such a trifle amount, what's to stop people from paying the fee, putting a mass of items up for sale, then leaving right afterwards because the 30 was nothing compared to what they made?

Also, I honestly don't see an issue in the WTB/FS threads. It's only the customs section(s) that need attending to. So why aren't we only attending to the customs section? And I'm not interested in any other benefits that might come with payment; the opportunity to discuss collectibles with other members is good enough for me. That's why I joined the forum in the first place.

If I want to sell one item every year, I'm not paying $30 because that's a pretty fair dent in what I'd be making from the figure itself. And I'm a student. I can't afford to spend money on things like that - sure, it allows me to sell multiple figures, but I only need to sell one. The cost should honestly be on a per-figure basis or something similar. It's like Ikea's insane shipping charges - great for bulk purchases, but if you're only trying to buy a detolf, that $300 shipping fee isn't so nice.

Then what's changing? Don't pay the fee.

Sell on e.Bay or Kijiji? Don't get what the big deal is? Don't pay the fee and find some other way to sell your figure. You're sort of acting like you have a right to sell your one figure a year on the board for free, but you don't.
