I heard at one point Wes Bentley was up for the role. ( He was the drug dealing camcorder guy from American Beauty) I think he would have been very very good for the role. Not so well known, decent enough looking to draw in the young female audience, but creepy enough ( he was creepy in American Beauty) to pull off a fast turning sociopath.

Wes Bentley would've been awesome (unless Lucas' direction mucked up his performance). I always pictured the young Vader as a dark, troubled soul and not some whiny surfer dude.

Natalie Portman is a great actor and she still came off poorly in the PT.
However Ewan McGregor managed to overcome the directing and dialogue to deliver a nuanced and interesting performance. I don't think Franco is on the level of Mcgregor though.

I think I should have played Anakin. I can't act worth a damn and Lucas could've saved a helluva lot of cash (I'd of done it for half of what Christensen did), plus, I'd have lots of little mandollies of me mass produced so that you guys could b*tch and moan (I mean that lovingly, of course) about whether or not they really look like me and if Haydn Christensen or James Franco would've been better cast than me.

BTW, I would have liked to have seen James Franco play Anakin, just because I am a fan from his Freaks n Geeks days. So, I voted Yes, but Haydn was fine by me, too. Whatever.

He gave us one of the most popular trilogies of all time. In Star Wars, Not bad for someone who cant direct a film. and the films are still as popular today as they ever were 30 years ago.................................

James Franco is cool n all but I find one his eyes goes a bit squinty at times making him look a bit strange. Besides that he coulda done well as Anakin... wouldn't have made alot of difference to the actual movies which are just weak... except for RotS which was 'mild spicy'.

So the fact I have never made my own versions of the SW prequels let alone any Hollywood movie means I can't have an opinion? So if my car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, i have no right to complain about how crappy it is because I haver never made a better car myself? I hate to harp on the past, but I agree that Franco wouldve played a darker/intimidating role VERY well. Hayden did an OK job, but he wasn't really too intimidating. Franco has good genetics for bulky build (Anapolis) and really sells himself when he gets angry on screen. Either way, Hayden did well. Franco wouldve been better, but Franco has been getting his fame in many other great movies
