Yes, but after the 30th "Commission for Howes to sculpt _________" thread and nothing produced after those, you think people would've gotten a whiff that someone had **** in his pants and bailed.

Well that speaks to what I mentioned earlier, a lot of people here are so eager to get things from being at this site, the second someone comes along like that offering services and good, rational thought seems to get tossed out and the ease of being able to just get anything you want kicks in. People should have kept a personal running list of things they'd like to see him do, and waited for results on the early projects, but they kept asking, he kept saying sure, and we see what happened.

And unfortunately, as a result, many customizers are packing up shop. Really changes a huge aspect of this forum. I know some just look at it as evolution, but it's a shame. I haven't been here as long as others, but I still feel it was a major part of what made this place what it is. :(

I very much miss the days of old, this place was much more about friendship, community, working together, lots of good things happened, then the big Hot Toys boom and especially The Dark Knight hit and this site became like a resource for acquiring things, lots of new members didn't care about discussion or befriending anyone, just finding out where to get products or customs parts and if you couldn't help with that you were no good to them.

Unfortunately, it also created a competitive climate for a lot of custom guys who were really just found they had a skill to offer that people needed and could use it as a means of income, they had to almost go corporate overnight because people came to this site with the lone purpose of making money and even tried to edge custom guys out so they had to commit more than they might have in the past to try and keep up with these new people.

I keep hoping, like the world economy, we hit a real rough patch around here and things will turn around, I see signs of it at times, but like the economic troubles, it won't heal overnight.

I know this doesn't help and isn't necessarily about this situation but...
One of the things that always bothered me about some of these custom head sculpts was how a lower price was dangled infront of everyone even before the head was sculpted. With the, "if you don't get in on it now it'll cost you more later" attitude.

For a lot of limited run group commissions that's true. If you miss out on the initial commission, You're left to either chasing after someone else's headsculpt at a higher price down the road when they ditch it, or pay more for a sub par recast. That'll also wind up being the case with a lot of these customizers' complete custom figures.

I think one problem in the Indy jacket and whip situation was certainly the fact that the wait time was not made clear in any way. In fact when I ordered in December and paid right after the holiday, the initial timeframe was for production to begin by February with items shipping the following month. Obviously the deadline was missed some time ago.

Since a lot of the people were probably new to Indy customs with the SS figure being their first, most probably did not expect the wait.

Other dealings that I've had with customizers on this board for headsculpts including Darren's work and Bergholtz' Bale by contrast were completed in short order. But the casts were completed already so, kind of a different scenario.

Just got my new 1/6 scale jacket from Sovereign ... I know that there is a lot of heat about Shawn on this board right now, but I cannot say that the quality is not top notch, it is excellent.

I will reserve judgement for the next week of so, as I am waiting to see how Shawn handles one outstanding item. Seems like some people have been getting there orders recently though.

Again, let's see what happens over the next week or so ...

I am still waiting on an Indy Jacket and whip set. If I could file a claim with paypal I would. I was told by Shawn that he was all caught up with Indy orders and could turn them out in four weeks time. That was seven months ago. I haven't heard a word from him since, even after three emails in the past month.

Shawn, you lost yourself any repeat sales from me because you are a liar. The only thing that keeps you from being classified as low as Chris Howes is the fact that stuff seems to be trickling out of your workshop. I have a feeling 2010 is going to be your last year customizing for a living.

As happy as I am to have my Sovereign jacket and whip, I just noticed something...my jacket is lacking a zipper that appears to be on all other pics of the jacket that I've seen....you can tell from my pics a few posts back

yeah i got 2 jackets from ebay and noticed mine didnt have zippers either. i can live without them. its such a small scale. im just glad to have the jackets and be done! lol

Guys getting quick stuff off eBay, it's your call, but anyone waiting shouldn't accept the zipper being absent, for all the waiting, missing pieces shouldn't be tolerated.

This guy shouldn't be doing this as a business..Its bad enough he takes peoples money and disappears for a year with zero comms, but to add salt to the wound he's then giving you an unfinished product too?! Shoddy

That's really screwed up. Now he's cutting corners.

Same for me. I got one off eBay but no zipper. Oh, well.

No zipper on the jacket is pretty ridiculous. Unless the ebay auctions specifically state no zipper or are shown without one, then I wouldn't tolerate it.

I will be pretty ticked to wait a year only to receive a jacket with no zipper, which is probably exactly what will happen to me. Not trying to add fuel or more criticism, but we really need to be informed. If he's out of zippers, he should tell people and let them decide if it's ok.

This is the jacket depicted when orderes were solicited here, people are entitled to get what they paid for, or as you say, at least informed if the zipper is an issue.

Well I got a quick reply "oops" from Shawn about the zipper...he told me to send it back and he would take care of it. As tough as it was to send back something I waited so long for, I decided to go ahead with it. Now I'm just praying that it's really the "quick fix" he says it is and he gets it out in the mail the "next day."

Just noticed this on mine too. Very unprofessional. Very unhappy

My set was missing the boots when it finally arrived.

Just to warn you guys too, it absolutely stinks of cigarette smoke. :(
