I should have some costume protoype shots up soon. Until then, here's the Ford head I'll probably go with....

He's not high, I got a little crazy with the red rims on his eyes. Try to ignore that.

Yeah, to be honest with you I'm not really feeling the head. Of course, Harrison Ford is one of those people who is hard to get just right. Since there are so many Ford sculpts out there, maybe you could offer a headless version for people who might want to supply their own.

Can I join the bandwagon?

Awful. :)

ouch! harsh. i wouldn't go that far. i think the first few not fully painted profile shots capture him to a point. but i have to agree that the last pic makes him look much more like mel gibson. i think harrison ford doesn't really have any amazingly striking features, so if you try to sculpt and accentuate any of the tiniest noticeable things in his face, it draws the likeness off. don't know if that makes any sense.

He doesn't look like Harrison Ford to me Shawn. Especially the last picture, that looks like Mel Gibson with shorter hair from "When We Were Soldiers". I'd rework the head Shawn. I'd love to get a great custom Rick Deckard from you...but we just need a great head sculpt. Thanks. :D

wow! i cant beleive some of these comments. there is no need to be rude. shawn is trying to make an awesome custom. his abilities are his abilities. hes not trying to dissatisfy people for crying out loud. he doesnt even have to be doing this period! nonetheless giving us freaks a group discount! no one slams Les , darren, josh or mikey or any other great artists on here. so lets show some respect to shawn.

Dittos. Some of you guys can be serious a-holes sometimes.:monkey4

If one of you had a fraction of the talent Shawn has or any of the other Artists on this board I'd like to see you start a thread demonstrating it.

It's not funny, it's pathetic... it's not what you say but how you say it.

I'm not feeling the headsculpt 100% but Ford is there.....the side profile its visible just not from the front....what is throwing me off really is the thickness of the neck which makes him look more muscular. Either way I'm still watching this thread intently because I really want a Deckard.

This is the last image that Shawn posted in the other thread. It's not perfect either, but I think it's considerably closer.

I know that the photo below is a photoshop composite to get the "Deckard" hair on the other sculpt, but I don't see why you would want to choose this version over the first one above.

I agree 100% P, Shawn is kind enough to share his talents with us here on this board and you guys act like jerks.

Regarding the Ford sculpt, I see him there, but something gets lost in translation when painted. It needs some slight tweaking but you're on the right track!

I didn't know there was a custom Deckard initiative. Can i get the details please?!

As for the comments... I perfectly agree, there's no need to be rude. If someone likes to share his point of view to an artist work, they are entitle to do so, but expressing it in a polite way, get's you farther, I belive.

On the other hand, if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen... Every artist should know that his work will not be loved by everybody, and therefor he should grow a thicker skin. I'm sure Shawn is confident enough to deal with criticism.

It's a very good sculpt. There are two things I see that would bring the likeness out though.

1. Move his eyes a little closer together.
2. His mouth moved down some.

I think with those changes it would be damn near perfect. Awsome job.

I'm truly sorry. My apologies. I didn't mean any harm or anything. I don't have any sculpting skills at all, so I shouldn't judge anyone. Great work Shawn. Thank you for sharing it with all of us. :D

I agree that some people (mostly people who have no interest in buying a figure in the first place, I would wager) were a little too blunt with their criticisms. However, you don't need to have sculpting skills to be able to critique a sculpt. And I think it's important to note that this isn't just someone showing off something that they did for their own pleasure -- it's a product that Shawn wants people to buy. In that sense, I would hope that he would want people to be honest, rather than just giving him compliments and then not buying when the time comes. I'm sure he wants to give people what they want and will use any thoughtful advice to improve the product.

I'm proud. I give credit where credit is due and don't say something is good when it isn't.

But clearly tact and you don't go hand in hand. I agree with you regarding giving credit where it's due, but you don't have to be obtusely rude.

But regarding your efforts Shawn, you have the sides profile really close, but I'm thinking that it is something that off with the 3/4 profile that's holding the likeness back... But it's a great sculpt and does have Harrison Ford in it... It just needs some extra work. Keep it up!

And I've notice your post count is rising quickly too Shawn, you like it here don't you?
