Indeed. I cringed a little bit. I really like this show, but with the long list of others I'm trying to keep up with I always end up watching this almost before the next week's episode.

Besides some of things around his wife I think it is following close to what historians know of Spartacus.

Amazing episode tonight. I said earlier in this thread that this show was no Rome or True Blood. For me, I think it has now surpassed both.

Ehh, it's strikes me like this:

After the first couple of episodes I would've agreed with that, but the character development in the last few epsiodes has just been so damn good, and they've thankfully toned down the 300 stuff.

The most recent episode also had a pretty nasty ending. Much more heartbreaking than the de-willification of that gladiator a couple of episodes ago. With only three or so episodes remaining in this season, I hope they at least start to address Spartacus' decision to revolt before season's end.

I have a feeling that kid is screwed next episode. Batiatus is gonna come down with fire and brimstone on the Magistrate, and I think he'll do it by going for the son.

On a different note, episode 10 was one of the saddest episodes I've seen in any television show. What Spartacus had to do...it makes you wonder how you would react in the same situation.

I just caught this show for the first time (I don't know why I didn't check it out sooner-- I loved HBO's Rome)... Anyway, great episode and I'm hooked.

Absolutely HATED the first two epsiodes. The effects were crap, the swearing was just for the sake of it, the acting was horrid, the nudity served no point whatsoever...I'm still surprised I managed to finish watching those two episodes, just awful. Didn't bother with episodes 3 and 4 because of that, but I did manage to catch episodes 5 and 6, and WOW, talk about a significant improvement. It's almost hard to believe that it's the same show, and it definately has me hooked now. Can't wait to see where it will go.

The first couple of episodes take some getting used to, as I don't think the producers had figured out in which direction to take the show. I think they were trying to decide whether to go the camp route, like Xena or Hercules, or veer towards true drama, like Rome.

Things picked up significantly from episode 3 onwards. Once Spartacus stopped pouting and thinking he had nothing to learn, his humility became more endearing and you looked forward to when he'd be able to kick butt and take names with impunity.

Now I'm just getting sick of seeing him always on the losing end of the fallout from the social politics of the Romans. I am SO looking forward to the eventual revolt, and seeing some Roman characters whom I've grown to loathe get theirs.
