Going into the last 15 minutes I was starting to feel like they might go Inglorious Basterds and change history.

I hated seeing Gannicus die more than Spartacus.

They went out with one of their best episodes. Sorry to see it end.

I agree with everything that's being said here... it was an epic conclusion to an epic show. It certainly was bitter sweet but I guess a necessary evil. I loved the final shot in the credits as well.

Seeing Gannicus crucified was certainly almost too hard to bare but it was cool to see Oenomaus again and have Gannicus in the arena one last time

Goodbye Spartacus! You were great!

They really did save the best episode for last. Like others have said, very bittersweet ending: it was fantastic to watch but sad since we know it over and seeing it end was tough for me. I'll wait till it airs for u guys oversees before discussing actual plot details. Just know that u will love it but will also be pissed to be losing such a great show. I do hope for a Caesar continuation however I will miss our gladiators immensely.

Watched it before work today. Well, I think they did the best they probably could to make it not be a complete and utter downer without totally rewriting history.

Significant finale spoilers:

What with 2 of the main crew surviving in Agron and Nasir, the fact that they managed to whisk Spartacus away before Crassus could kill him and that Spartacus actually had that fight won. Also by leaving it that Gannicus was only disarmed and defeated due to overwhelming numbers, no one was personally able to beat him

Very bittersweet!

I love that Oenomaus was with Gannicus in his final moments. Kind of wish they would have had Crixus w/Naevia and Sura w/Spartacus.
I thought they did a great job though of giving us a great finale when we all knew it was going to end with death.

I am rewatching season 1 with a friend and I must say that the original Naevia was much better IMO. Andy and Liam both did a great job with the title role.

I agree on both counts. Andy had an awesome chemistry with Crixus but I thought Liam really made the part his own. Both were great as spartacus.
I also thought Crassus was very well played.

All the unknown actors were great which leads one to conclude that the director knew what he was doing. Also the show runners had mapped out most of the arcs during season one and it showed. The actors had a good map to follow which allowed them to understand the motivations and arcs of their characters which made their jobs easier!! I am not taking away from the actors just giving credit where credit is due..

Its been an incredible show. Hard to believe I only got into it just before 'Vengeance' started.

Has to be in my opinion one of the best TV shows ever made.

Going to rewatch the entire thing as soon as I can. I know I loved Andy as Spartacus for as long as it was him in the role and I need to look at that season again, having only seen it once through. It strikes me though that with Vengeance and War of the Damned Liam McIntyre did an incredible job of creating a continuity of emotion where Andy unfortunately had to leave off. I think he played it brilliantly, really a leader you could get behind as an audience - as I expect Andy would have been too. I know that those who have been with the show since the beginning have a devotion to Andy that disallows them from fully accepting Liam's Spartacus but I am convinced that had it been Liam from the beginning he would be just as loved.

I thought the shows ending was great if you now a little history you knew what was coming but you still hope they'll find a way to win. I really loved the ending credits and the last touch at the end.

I thought the way they handled Gannicus' death was absolutely brilliant. They took what was an incredibly depressing moment and turned it into triumph.

I really can't recall another series finale that hit every single note in a way that was so completely satisfying, an amazing feat considering they were working with a story where the bad guys had to win.

I haven't seen or heard a bad word about the finale yet. My 2 brothers who have watched the show for longer than me loved it. They don't think it could have been done better. Bravo to all involved.

Finally watched it last night. Bittersweet finale. Sad to see this show done. Great ending.

I was hoping Spartacus would inflict a more lasting wound on Crassus, one he would remember forever, but he was back up like nothing ever happened. Same for Caesar. I wanted Gannicus to beat the **** out of him.

It was hard watching the end come. Gannicus had a nice send off. No single man could defeat him. Sparty had his battle clearly won. And of course Crixus's woman got her *** handed to her by someone that wasn't a novice.

I hated how Caesar hand a hand in most of their deaths/downfalls. Stood toe to toe with these trained fighters, yet took it in the *** quite easily.

I also liked how Gannicus' woman put her had over her belly as the group left Spartacus' grave in that final shot suggesting that she carried his child to freedom...
Great finale (to echo what many others have said).

:lecture Exactly my thoughts.

I'm glad neither Crassus or Caeser personally killed any of my favorite characters - I don't know if I could come around to liking them when they are on our screens again in this mooted spin-off if they had done so. (Suffice it to say Naevia was never a favorite)

My word, that was a beautiful finale. I must say I liked how every character who actually brought something to the story was addressed in the credits, no matter how minor.
