Absolutely ******* spectacular ending to best show on TV ! Gannicus remained undefeated and got to bask in the adulation of the arena one final time and freaking Lugo went out in a blaze of glory, still slaying and cursing the Romans. I'm glad Crassus was denied delivering an undeserved coup de gras on Spartacus. This show has been magnificient from start to finish!

Very bittersweet!

I love that Oenomaus was with Gannicus in his final moments. Kind of wish they would have had Crixus w/Naevia and Sura w/Spartacus.
I thought they did a great job though of giving us a great finale when we all knew it was going to end with death.

I am rewatching season 1 with a friend and I must say that the original Naevia was much better IMO. Andy and Liam both did a great job with the title role.

I agree about Naevia. I wish they hadn't lost the first actress. I guess she decided to leave the show. It would have been great to watch her character evolve into the warrior she became. Plus it would have been an easier transition into Vengeance with having just Liam to get used to.

The new Naevia had her moments though.

Naevia's arc and her fate would have been far more effective if they'd been able to keep the original actress. I just stopped caring once it was a different person. Fortunately that was not the case with Spartacus himself.

Agreed about Naevia. Lesley-Ann Brandt was a much better actor IMO, and I would have loved to see her morph into the warrior version of Naevia we see in season 3.

After she and Andy were replaced I lost a great amount of interest, though this season Liam has grown on me more than I ever expected him to. As others have said, he really made the role his own and became a true Spartacus. I feel that Cynthia Addai-Robinson unfortunately never truly captured Naevia as a character though.

Just finished the finale and it was fantastic. Only a few things I felt were missing were Crixus making a vision/dream/ghost appearance and Caesar and Crassus being far more brutally beaten.

So many great moments in the finale. Spartacus' leap over Crassus' horse, cutting the side of his head, Spartacus running up the hill after Crassus and Crassus witnessing him take out every last one of his guards in a matter of seconds, turning Crassus' signature move against him, etc. Brilliant scenes.

I was so glad they put Andy at the end of the credits. I was guessing he wouldn't be featured at all because in all of Spartacus' flashbacks with Sura, they had Andy cropped out. Very pleasant surprise.

Such a shame that the show has ended, but I'm grateful that they made the series very well-rounded and complete rather than adding another 10 gazillion seasons just for the sake of it. It's been arguably my biggest source of inspiration and motivation.

R.I.P. Spartacus

I really liked the last scene with spartacus and Agron. I felt they had a special bond when Liam became spartacus and I liked that Agron was there with him when he met the after life.

Also thought the rain coming down was a nice touch for the bringer of rain.

What a great show. Never have I looked forward to it coming back on our screens and I will really miss it.
I hope this propels some of the cast onto bigger things !

i don't believe the old naevia was willing to do the physical aspect of the role. the new naevia took the frightened and abused slaved and elevated her to a stronger character. because of the character transformation, i didn't even notice or miss the old naevia. great casting along with liam replacing andy.

I am pretty sure she left the show because she wanted more money and they were not willing to give her a **** ton more money for not being one of the main characters.

It was hard watching the end come. Gannicus had a nice send off. No single man could defeat him. Sparty had his battle clearly won. And of course Crixus's woman got her *** handed to her by someone that wasn't a novice.

I hated how Caesar hand a hand in most of their deaths/downfalls. Stood toe to toe with these trained fighters, yet took it in the *** quite easily.

Are we talking figuratively or literally. :lol

:thud:

So glad I stayed out of this thread until I got to watch the finale. I agree with all the posts claiming this one of the best series and series finales in tv history. What a great show! I am glad they stayed relatively true to history with the finale, yet still managed to give a very satisfying ending for the "good" guys. Personally, I wanted to see that buttf-ucker Tiberius dead so bad and wished his death was more grusome. Hated that kid.

One other side note: never knew that Caeser was a blonde haired blue eyed Brad Pitt wannabe. :wink1: :lol

I still think S1 was the best of the series and that season finale is one of my favorite episodes of any tv show. I still get goose bumps when watching it. Andy Whitfield was Spartacus and it was a nice tribute at the end credits to have him say it. I will miss this show, but it was time to end it before it became too monotonous with all the stylized killings. I think they were running out of ways to kill people. :lol

Thank you Starz and the cast and crew of the series for bringing such an awesome show to life. :clap

Well said. :goodpost:

The season finale of S1 still gives me chills as well.

Crixus: "Spartacus..." *taps shield* :thud:

That sequence was pure brilliance. I wish I could forget everything about the show and watch it over, and over, and over to feel my initial surprise and excitement. :lol

I can't decide which season I think is better between S1 and S3. They were both beyond excellent.

I really enjoyed Gods of the Arena though. Season two was the weakest for me.

I've loved it all pretty much equally I have to say. The season 2 finale was excellent aswell and that one was a total victory for the good guys...apart from Oenomaes (sp?) dying....that was in the finale of season 2 wasn't it?

I'll have to rewatch Vengeance. I just didn't connect to it. Felt absolutely nothing when Glabor met his end. Perhaps it was because of the switch from Andy to Liam. I loved Liam as Sparty in S3 though, so maybe I'll be able to enjoy S2 this time.

I can't remember what all happened with Oenomaus, but I do remember being very disappointed with how he went out (however that was :lol).

Completely agree! Liam was hard to take to at first but by the time the credits rolled on the very last episode, I loved him. He was great. So I'm going to give vengeance another chance.

S1 is still the best for me also. My favourite part out of probably every episode was when Spartacus found out about batiatus' hand in sura's death, he was hitting the training board, batiatus says something to him and he turns round and says "yes batiatus, I am myself again..." Epic.

S3 was great. Spartacus' death was brutal. I hated Caesar when he trapped gannicus! I also felt nothing when neavia died, I couldn't stand the actress who took over.

The casting of the second Neavia was weak as I never really connected with her character at all. I loved the finale. Gannicus triumphant in the "arena" an forever undefeated--- as it should be.

Aside from not dealing the killing blow to that monstrous Egyptian dude, I thought Oeneamaus got one of the best deaths on the show. It was honorable and dignified. He didn't get brutally hacked away on or sliced into pieces. He died with peace and purpose and finally forgave Gannicus. I was so thrilled that, compared to the cartoonish and humiliating ways so many characters die on this show, they gave him such a treatment.

I think I was more disappointed at how much damage the Egyptian did to him rather than his actual passing. But I hardly remember anything from that season, so I'm not sure. Need to watch it again.

Yeah I remember thinking the same. It bugged me that the egyptian stabbed him in the eye in a previous episode and then ultimately killed him. I wanted Oenomaus to get revenge, and it seemed like he would until...
