Speculation: Hot Toys "Solo" Movie Figures

It's actually pretty cool having some relatively close design features between R1 and Solo, as they are are not that far away from each other as far as timeline goes.

Well, R1 and ANH are only minutes apart.... while Solo is 10 years prior...

So the R1 Tank Trooper is an old style trooper helmet from 10 years prior (Solo) that was finally replaced by the more modern Stormtrooper helmet design we're all familiar with.

Yep, was going to say the same but wasn't sure if it was 10 or 15 years. Either way pretty cool troopers whichever one you pick from Solo.

Going to be hard to resist any of these troopers actually. And I was planning on skipping Solo all together.....

Yeah, I'm not really a trooper builder and generally prefer specific single villains to troops... but these designs -- particularly the mudtrooper -- look outstanding.

Just hate that 'name' - mudtrooper.


This has me thinking I may need to get that Shoretrooper after all. I passed on it to wait for the regular grunt without the blue paint, but that never surfaced.

Yeah I think he could be my favourite too.

I'm thinking he could also fit into any ANH display with Jabba or Tatooine theme.....this is how I start my self justification that I need this

Actually I've noticed pre ANH, capes were pretty "in".

Lando has one, Krennic has one, Mimban troopers have one, hell even Mudtroopers have one !!

Vader is of course old school, he has to have one !

I kind of like leaving the capes to true old school figures like Darth Vader... but I guess Fett and Lando broke that rule long ago.

Hate to burst your bubble but i'm not seeing any reveal coming tonight. HT announced their 1/4 IW Gauntlet yesterday.

Besides, HT posted what could be some sort of hint on their FB "Solo" trailer post: "Up next, the latest trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story. Expect to see you all in May!"

Not sure HT are ready to switch attention to Solo just now as we are closing in to Infinity War. They will go all out on Marvel for the next couple weeks i think.

I'm sure you're right. My comment was ironic -- I fully expect Cap #8 to be shown in all its bearded glory.

I think the design is bad, troopers should never wear cape regardless how high their ranking are. Remind me too much of stupid PHASMA

Yeah, I don't really understand why people think the Mudtrooper is such a fantastic design. It's just a dirty stormtrooper with a cape, which I think is kind of silly considering we've never seen a clone trooper or Stormtrooper with a cape before. I guess maybe it's one thing if this is an officer, but putting a cape on a combat soldier seems somewhat silly to me.

I like Mud trooper design, of course the name is silly along with that cape. He has Nazi trooper vibe in recent Wofenstein shooting game, very cool!

Still don't get why the Pimp trooper needs a fur coat when the Hoth Snowtrooper doesn't.

Yeah, some of the aspects of the designs make no sense within a world that has already established a logic.

But the Muddy rocks without the cape.

All of troopers in Solo movie era seems wayyy more technology advanced than the OTs..which does not make any sense due to timeline

Well, maybe the same tech in those "machinery boots" has been scaled down to sandals in ESB... which would be a proper tech timeline.

The boots don't bug me because they may do something cool -- turn into skis or something.

But the cape definitely doesn't seem practical. Unless they disguise themselves as piles of brown 'mud' and then jump up and shoot you.

I like Range trooper too, definitely grab him if Hot Toys make one. He has elite/specialist looking like RO Death trooper.
