It’s possible HT is not going to do anything till after they see fan response.

They have been taking a bath on ST figures from the Internet rumors.

Not really a rumor. You see those TFA figs still available at already slashed prices? So do I.

Additional evidence being BBTS charging NRD on all TLJ figures, something never done before that I am aware of.

I think it’s clear with The Force Awakens Hot Toys overproduced. At least with the initial run of characters, I think some of the later ones they scaled back on. My guess is retailers are just covering themselves with The Last Jedi so there’s not a repeat situation. My guess is this time around won’t be as bad and there were overall less figures announced from the film.

We don't "deserve" anything really but to not have a 1/6th figure of this would be a shame.

I agree. Nothing against the ST, but from what I've seen so far all of the character designs from the spinoffs fit right in with OT designs. They feel very in universe to me. Maybe Sideshow could do Enfys if HT never do. (Sideshow should give Krennic a shot as well since HT don't seem interested in doing side characters lots of collectors want)

No need to get snide about it.

Ok. Also no need to dance around the fact that sequel trilogy stuff doesn't sell well. TLJ simply doesn't reasonate with a huge percentage of longtime invested fans.

The first wave of OT stuff had to get a second run, months after the first(also unprecedented by HT I believe) because secondary prices were sky high and people were complaining online about it.

Yes, and of course we all know that because people like you didn’t like the film that means no one did, no one cares about any future films, no money was made, no merchandise was sold. It was just a colossal failure all around. I mean obviously.

Also your logic doesn’t even make sense. Yes I realize more people didn’t like The Last Jedi but the reception to The Force Awakens was considerably more positive from most so the idea that the figures from the previous film supposedly didn’t sell because people didn’t like the sequel doesn’t add up other than for how you have it perceived.

That most of all. HT must have produced billions of Kylo&Phasma&Finn&Rey and and incalculable numbers of troopers in every possible combination.

We will never know. What we do know is they still can't sell them even at clearance price.

I mean look at The Phantom Menace. There was an over abundance of merchandise then and it can still be gotten in mass quantities today dirt cheap. It’s the same scenario. Star Wars was brought back after a period of inactivity and the merchandise push was huge and probably even bigger now because Disney owns it. It’s not exactly hard to figure out and has little to do with personal positive or negative reactions of fanboys.

The Phantom Menace was poorly received too. I remember feeling dazed and confused when I came out of the cinema after seeing it. I thought that I would never have that feeling again but The Last Jedi was even worse.

Darth Maul was great and a character worthy of a high end 1/6 figure. Qui Gon Jinn is about the only other one I would consider.

There is nothing at all I would want from TLJ. That is really disappointing after TFA had set up some promising story arcs.

My point was in regards to merchandise the hype machine behind both films was huge and both times there was far too much merchandise than there was demand for. The Force Awakens was largely well received. It’s revisionist history to say the figures from that film didn’t sell because a group of people didn’t like the next film.

Not a huge fan of the prequels, but go look up the prices of some of the better sideshow stuff like Rex, Grevious, Clones, etc. The current going rate will probably shock you. It also appears HT Anakin has proven wildly popular too. No NRD was put on him.

I agree.

I think it is a travesty that TLJ has diluted TFA stuff though, certainly from my perspective.

I spent £1k on Hot Toys from TFA and apart from the Old Solo, I regret buying them.
I enjoyed the film, it wasn't perfect but it set up some great possibilities.

Then Spaceballs 2 came along.

That tends to happen with a lot of figures once they sell out. I don’t like the prequels but I realize there’s still a market for some of the characters. It’s obvious there were just too many figures from The Force Awakens than there was demand for. As far as Anakin while not the most beloved character most recognize him as important and I’d also guess that he wasn’t wildly over produced.

Same thing happened to me. I bought some TFA figures because despite some of the flaws I still felt it was entertaining and promising. Now I'm stuck with a bunch of crap that I don't really want but would have to take a bath on. So I wait and hope that someday I might be able to flip it for close to what it cost.

So for the record I did enjoy TFA and despite blatant copying of ANH it did introduce some new stuff to the universe I liked such as BB8. The opening scene when Kylo landed was awesome! Flametroopers were cool! Unfortunately TLJ/Rian Johnson/Kathleen Kennedy took a sledgehammer to all of it, burned it, and whizzed on it.

I remember this well, the folks ordering cases of Wave 1 figures, paying 1000 a case.

6 months later....I got a case for like 50 bucks...

Sold that case 5 years later for about the same....

So the whole TLJ destroys TRU is nonsense.

Hell, SW figures will never again be as valuable as they were before PT.
