They replaced Gwen Stacy with MJ on the Goblin/bridge scene in the 1st movie. Revising big plot points is not beyond them. I previously meant the easy way out as in not going for the more visually striking and interesting suit. Instead, just take the regular suit, slightly modify it, and make it greyish/black.

Funny though, that doesn't bother me as much as they not including the webshooters and making a story switch to organic webbing (which affected and changed also the comics). Part of the charm of Peter Parker being geeky enough to come up with webshooters (perhaps also on instinct after he was bitten) would have been cool to see in the movie. Let's face it: organic webbing relative to a spider means the web should be coming out of his butt and not his forearms...

Did I mention is a slow day at work? :lol

Yeah i would've been ecstatic if they woulda used these in the movies like they were first gonna. But the organic doesnt bother me that much.Maybe a medicom Ben R. suit figure in the future with the webshooters on the outside:cool:

That would have been great if they had used those. Don't want to get into a debate on whether organic webbing was right in the movie (that is like 4 years worth of debate with my friends), but it would have been interesting in the movie if they had.

That was the only thing that bugged me at first about the movie. But I really don't care now. I mean I don't think they'll ever do a Superhero movie 100% accurate, but part of that is because there are so many story lines and arcs to go off of, and the movie is really just an entity in it's own. As long as the spirit is there and they don't fool around too much with A- Origin and B- Character relationships, than I'm not bothered.

not to start a huge debate, but i actually prefer the organic webbing to the authentic web-shooters. to me it was another symbol that shows how his life has changed from being a normal person to something much different.

~~i like both the comic and movie versions of Venom... i will try to get all 3 figures down the road, but will get the black spidey version on from the get go.

Too late. :D

The organic web was too convenient a plot device. Watching the nerd with an aptitude for science develop these webshooters would have been more cool. It's sort of a reminder that even though he is not a nerd anymore, since he has powers, he can still use some of that knowledge as a superhero.

On the same note, the tiny spikes on the tip of his fingers don't make that much sense to me. I rather have the radioactivity from the bite empower him with the "sticky" power all over his body like in the comics version. Not just "sticky spider hairs" on his fingers and toes.

yea, there really is no reason to make peter into a science "genius" if he doesn't make the webshooters. He could have been a pizza guy who got bit and the organic webbing would have taking care of it...

Personally I like the organic webbing too. Especially when he does something like stopping the train in S2. That he's depleting his own energies by creating these webs and that he can make so much would be less believeable (to me) than if he was relying on tiny little canisters strapped to his arm.

Sure it's all fantasy, but organic just seems right for the modern version of th character.

I like the idea of the organic webbing as well.

For the sake of realism for the movie storyline pacing (aside from getting super powers by getting bit by a radioactive spider and the other far-fetched parts of it all) the organic web worked much better than Parker developing the web-shooters. I think when they did this for the movie, Marvel kind of realized why they didn't do it a long time ago in the first place. Then again, Marvel also had many years to do many stories where Spidey ran out of webbing and had to figure things out differently.

The fans clamoured about it for a few months, and while there are specs of debate here and there (like right now). I believe for the most part giving the comic character organic webbing was just a natural evolution for Spidey and wasn't as big of a character change as say...a new long-term costume.

See for me that really didn't add to the effect. Had they been Web-Shooters, the fact of the matter is that he was holding onto the webbing with his hands, I figured the strain is the same usually seen in the comics when something like this is done where its almost ripping his arms from its sockets and he's depending on the strength of the webbing...In the comics actually once his shoulder is dislocated and he swings away having to pop it back in on his own....that would have been a cool scene...

I agree webshooters added a little bit of needed realism to the character. He's already given super-strength, agility, reflexes, ability to stick to objects and, his most valuable power, the spider-sense. Now, you have already given the character all he needs. Except for the web. So Peter Parker makes his webshooters. Former nerdy kid with an inclination for science goes to work.

Perhaps there was some instinct after he was bitten or he was just that good. Who knows. The thing is that they added a dimension to the character where he could run out of his "web power". Unlimited webbing, for the purpose of most stories, seems like the easy way out. Not to mention all his powers are given to him so anybody can be Spidey. That rubs me the wrong way since his knowledge of science has been a part in a lot of good Spidey stories. The webshooters were a reminder of that.

The movie came along and rewrote all that. The change affected the comics which sort of breaks that "the movie is a separate entity" rule. Thanks Marvel!

Anyone have any ideas why the links to the figures are now down? I went to place my pre-order and the links are down.

The idea is that Sideshow posted the pre-orders with pictures of the "secret" Venom before they were supposed to. So someone from Sony, Marvel, Medicom, etc. rang them up and ordered them to take them all down. So they did. They even removed all the photos of the RAH and VCD figures from the "preview" images.

There has been no official word on it though.

I wondered if that was not the case. I was able to find the pictures on another site. Thanks.

Yikes! I bet that was a hairy phonecall.....

Would not want to be the person who got that earful. Been there before at my own job... couldn't imagine it at that level. :monkey1

Honestly though, why does Marvel even care if pictures get put up? If anything, it'll create a buzz similar to what the exposed trailer already created...

I just hope they fixed the neck and big hands problems on the Spidey figures. That and the coloring on the Regular Spiderman figure, though I'll most likely get the Symbiote version if I can't afford all three.

SS should have the explanation on their homepage by now, i shouldn't have to be emailing em to get an answer.(oh well i guess they don't want me to buy direct....thats fine:D )
