I'm disappointed that Spider-Man won't have Silver Webbing. I'll still get it because I don't have a 12" representation of Spider-Man but its more Comic Adjusted than Movie Representative. Spider-Man 1 he had blackish weblines....I guess I could just think of him that way....

I'd imagine one reason to do a pleatherish costume instead of fabric is one because at least for the black for Venom and Spidey it gives that shiny appearance that the Alien Symbiote usually had. second, the hexagon pattern and texture will be mroe easily seen and determined through the pleather than fabric. I'm guess the red suited Spidey was just to follow suit.

Thanks for pointing out the webbing. I hadn't noticed it before. Why isn't it silver with a black spider on it? Since it's on the pleather I'm not sure if it can be re-painted either.

That's just what I was thinking....if its pleather the paint might quickly eat away at the costuming....

I just thought of something. Would one of those metalic silver autograph pens work on the webbing?

It might work in that it would be silver, but I worry about the elasticity issue. As the figure is moved, the costume stretches, will the paint stretch also or just crack? Also, I'm not sure, but the paint in those pens might be more toxic than regular acrylic paint and could possibly damage the rubbery costume.

You think they went with the black webbing instead of silver since they already did the silver with their Spiderman 2 release?

I assuming they went with Black instead of Silver one because its more iconic of Spidey but also because if you watch the trailers the costume weblines are a dark silver, in the shadows they almost look black but in the light are clearly silver. Maybe dark silver was the plan but in production just wound up Black....

Aside from the black suit, Spidey's costume hasn't changed from one movie to the next. I can't think of why Medicom would get the webbing color screen accurate for the last film but not this one, unless they wanted to differentiate it from the previously released Spiderman and not just release the same product in a different box. Maybe this is also why they switched to the pleather suit instead of lyrca fabric?

Too bad, I also wonder what went wrong, but whatever. I don't feel I can fully speak until I see the in hand product. I still think Venom and Symbiote Spidey look great, and Peter too. The thing that bugs me about both Spideys most is, why no reflective eyes? That's a bigger detail to me than the webbing on the outfit.

interesting. the one on the front or back of the suit or both?

I can't search pics right now but I know the fronts have all changed. The original Spider on the costume was a bit thinner with long legs, the second Spider had narrower arms and legs that they jutted out a bit. The third Spider variation looks to have fatter arms and legs and is a bit shorter....at least from what I've seen.

I'm surprised no more pics of these guys have leaked out...

The first suit had a little more muted colors in the suit, and the webs were black. The light hitting the raised webbing caused them to look silver in some scenes, especially high sunlight scenes.

The second movie had a deeper color scheme, and silver (more like gun metal) webs. I think the grid pattern was more visible on this suit as well.

The third is similar to the second, but like others have said, the spider is different, and again like stated before, changed on all three films.

Exactly. I'm assuming like other MediCom figures the colors will be darker on the production figure than in those solicit pics so the colors will be slightly muted and the webs will be black.

In essence what MediCom is giving up is a Spider-Man 3 Black Suited Figure, a Spider-Man 3 Venom figure and a Spider-Man 1 Red Suited Figure. If you discard the information about the Spider....

Huh....the QVR is showing a lighter color on the weblines....not silver but not the deep black that is showing on the other photos....it might just be my monitor but I'm getting a gunmetal greyish color....

The webbing was painted with graphite (just like your pencil tip) which is why it looks black yet reflects silver. Of course if more light is reflecting off of it, it'll all look more silver and lighter black.

This was mentioned in a "Making of..." featurette I saw on one of the websites.
