Anybody getting annoyed with the new trailers revealing too much..They don’t need to do this, people will go see Spider-man

If Sony is in charge of the advertising, then it makes sense since they probably assume their audience has the IQ of a potato - much like the current Sony executives themselves.

:lol On a serious note, curious if Marvel is gonna reveal their plans for phase 4 at SDCC this year since they again will be there but this time without an actual movie to promote since nothing has been officially announced past Spidey Far From Home.

I would have to think that, at a minimum, they'll announce which movies are connected to the upcoming release dates they've already revealed over the next few years.
And I love that, though they haven't actually announced any movies officially, we all know that the Black Widow movie is already filming.

Holy crap does he hilariously destroy race-bending comic characters, including changing white ones to black, lol.

You watch this guy to huh? As a poc person myself I could give two ****s if a character is black or a different color. That isn’t a win for me. A win for me is something like black panther being recognized in the media cause he’s an original character and his roots are being a black man.

Turning a character into a different race is just like saying “ here we’ll do it just to shut you guys up and sell more tickets”.

Sometimes racebending a character people know nothing about is fine but again it ain’t a win. That’s just me tho

Also apparently there is something in this movie that will “ make raimi fans happy”

Hmmmmm

It's a given that most of what large corporations do is motivated by money first, no argument there, but my first reaction is that it's good for little kids to see themselves represented on-screen and they maybe won't be troubled by "cynical tokenism arguments".

But I admit that while mine isn't a knee-jerk response it lacks depth. I can always be swayed by a cogent argument and that was one potent and well-articulated diatribe from this guy.

I'll have to listen to it again but he makes some pretty devastating points.

The only lingering doubt I may have about the whole debacle is theatre -- Shakespearean plays have a history of being both race and gender-bent, along with being placed in different historical periods and milieus. And I think that pre-dates our agenda-laden cultural moment. Which is to say iconic stories can be told in many different ways.

But even that's a weak argument against the Black Panther Argument, which on first listen points out what 'empowerment' looks like (token nominations from the ****ing 'Academy' aside) and that there's a whole population of characters to develop on their own merits without throwing peoples of colour (of which I am one) and self-styled SJW's a bone.

Gotta give this guy another listen and think about it some more.

Yep, well put jye. Especially if the udpated version of the character is tweaked in other ways like MCU MJ not being Mary Jane Watson anyway. That's why I don't have a problem with Sam Wilson Cap since he's still Sam Wilson and not Steve Rogers. Hell now that we got a perfect Steve Rogers already I wouldn't even care if the rebooted him now and made him black. They did it right the first time so they can have a ball doing whatever from here on out.

And I honestly don't think that when Bryan Hitch drew Nick Fury to look like SLJ in The Ultimates that he was trying to tokenize the character. He literally just gave him the likeness of the most badass actor he could think of at the time and it happened to stick. No harm no foul. Same with MCD Kingpin. Sure I like D'Onofrio's Fisk more but there's room for both.

Still that guy's rant was funny as well especially went he went off about how he was supposed to be grateful that they made Monica Rambeau a little girl who idolizes Brie Larson, lol.

The new version of MJ is horrible though, she dresses like a homeless person and has a s--tty attitude. I also think she's too ugly to be MJ. With Peter Parker, you want him to get his dream girl, the new MJ is a nightmare.
Though I wish we got some Capt. America movies that didn't seem like sequels to the Avengers, Sam is just getting the title and like you said, we got an awesome Steve Rogers story arc already, bring on whatever comes next, just keep out the racial politics.

I think Bryan Hitch just settled on some pictures of Jackson that he could trace as Fury and called it a day. Totally unnecessary to change but it was just the crappy Ultimates universe. Unfortunately they pushed that version into the MCU which kinda sucks that we never got a good original Nick Fury movie. If that was it, I would except it, but Marvel went and made it 616 cannon by retconning that the real Nick Fury had a illegitimate son called Marcus Johnson which is now called Nick Fury jr, and shelved the original, F THAT.

With Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin they changed the ethnicity BUT, only MCD had the physique to portray Kingpin so that was perfect casting. He wasn't chosen because of his ethnicity. I love D'onofrio's Kingpin, he has the attitude, look, and some of that physique, MCD still was a good portrayal, unfortunately his fight with DD in that movie sucked.
Monica Rambeau was the perfect opportunity to introduce a new black superhero but unfortunately, the idiots running Marvel comics are incompetent and decided to ignore the character and warp Warbird into a crappy OP Capt Marvel. They couldv'e had two great characters that should get their own movies, Danvers as Warbird and Rambeau as Captain Marvel, instead we got Brie Larson.

That's good, since I've got opening day tickets. Think my bro is more excited than I am tho - but - don't mean that in a negative way. Was never a huge Spidey fan. Also except for the TV series sounds like it will be a long haul until the next film - Marvel needs time to count all that money from EG:devil

:monkey4:monkey4:monkey4

If the big twist in this movie is as mind blowing as has been hinted at and what many are hoping it will be I would seriously lose my mind if I saw that play out in front of my eyes.

I mean we're talking bigger than even EG type surprise/reveal.

Oh gosh please let the going theory be what happens.

I think I already know the answer, but is the theory...

...multiverse...

...or something else entirely?

It’s weird cause I didn’t care if the character looked like me. If I saw myself in him then great if he looked like me that’s even cooler. I related to Spider-Man immensely cause he faced girl troubles and trying to make a name for himself in the world. He always picked himself back up when he failed. I could care less if he was white.

I love black panther but I don’t relate to him to much, I’m not a king or a trillionaire, same with Batman. I don’t relate to him either.

Black panther and Batman are people you strive to be but Spider-Man is someone who is you. He’s out of his element and trying to figure the world out

Huge Huge HUGE spoiler...

Yes but with multiple Raimi Spiderman cameos...multiple unknown who they are though other than Tobey Spiderman!

If this is true than this is huge. I read another spoiler on shh but it sounds dumb af

I get that. I never gave it a thought when I was younger, but I have to remain open to the possibility that maybe I should have. Not to invalidate any of these awesome stories and characters -- more of a question of how to move forward.

As has been said many times here, Luke Skywalker, Bruce Lee, Spider-Man, Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali -- all these heroes fictional or real-life -- are for everyone. Deeds and character matter most.

I've been a Spidey fan all my life, even when I gave up cartoons and comics to chase girls and look cool. ;)

When I see freaking Mysterio and Spider-Man on screen in a big budget feature film I'm like, 5 years old again. I'm not thinking about politics or agendas. :lol

OK, I read that, and Wow. I want that. I hope it's true.

The Raimi movies feel MCU-compatible.
