Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

Yeah, I'm starting to like the black too. I'm good with them keeping it in there now. I would love to see him in a good version of the black costume someday as well.
Big white spider and all.

That's what I want most too, the symbiote storyline. Imagine how awesome an MCU Venom would be, if they took inspiration from the animated series. Multi-tone voice and all.

I just don't like how his web shooters look like bracelets, pretty lame imo

I've heard
he may end up getting that outfit in Infinity Wars.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

It's irrelevant in that it the actor and the character do not have to be the the same height. The height is supposed to be reflective of the character. It's why the stark figures are not shorter then everyone else. It's how you can have a 5ft 9 Elijah wood play a 2 foot tall hobbit. It's how dean Cain and tom welling are supposed to be the exact same height as sueorman and be 6 inches different in the real world. Is it really that hard to get?

I wasn't saying the height of the character an it's reflection in scale figures is irrelevant, I said that no matter how tall the actor is...hu are playing a part. And just like the character is different from them in nearly every way possible (can fly, was in ww2, ect ect) the height is assigned or reflective of the character and NOT the actor. Batman is a certain height. No matter if he's in facts 4 inch tall drawing or a 6 ft 2 Ben Affleck that's portraying him.

The actors are playing someone or something else. That "else" is where ALL the details come from. Let's make it easier to grasp. American sniper is a fictional movie. It has characters that based on real people, but are fictionalizations on the screen. civil war is a movie with characters based on fake people, but those fake people all have stats the same as a real person. In this anology...Chris Kyle is a certain height and weight and age and is married to a certain person..Bradley cooper is just a representation of Chris Kyle. All the data/reference whatever you want to call it would be of Chris kyle for the figure based on the film, even if it looks like Bradley Cooper(yes, there are Chris kyle figures based on the man not the movie which would be like a comic version of Cap vs the film version). Groot is a 7 foot tall tree. Should Vin diesle height be used? Chris Evans is playing cap. Marvel and the filmmakers decided the height and strength of the character. It's not based on what Evans bench press and height.

The questions when design scaled version of a movie Captain America are not how tall is Chris Evans it's how tall is Captain America (as portrayed by Evans). It's the character everyone's buying.

Evans is 6ft flat, hemsworth 6ft3, RDJ is 5ft 9. Does it looks on screen like there's a nearly 6 inch height difference between Thor and stark? Is Thor 3 inches taller then Cap? No. What matters is how tall Thor, stark, and Cap are...not how tall the actors are.

It's so funny when I read these threads Motux that I seem to always stop to read your long rants and 99% of the time AGREE with you. I also love that you come across as unapologetic and from a true fan based factual stance. I've been meaning to post this (my rant about your rants) a few times but just got around to doing so here because it is so relevant when talking about "characters heights". Cap figure gets a Evans headsculpt but the rest should be (and has been) Cap's stats. Also, your point about making a Vin Diesel height Groot, bravo sir, BRAVO!

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

Not trying to add fuel to the fire of the actor/character height argument, but here's a little tidbit I saw on Wikipedia:

Jackman, at 1.9 m (6 ft 3 in) stands 30 cm taller than Wolverine, who is said in the original comic book to be 5 feet 3 inches (1.60 m). Hence, the filmmakers were frequently forced to shoot Jackman at unusual angles or only from the waist up to make him appear shorter than he actually is, and his co-stars wore platform soles.

So in this instance, it's the character's height that matters the most, and not the actor's. But ultimately, it's up to the filmmakers (though it would seem that in most cases, character height trumps actor height).

Nice tid bit, I'd probably say that's more because the other actors are short rather than making Jackman look shorter for comic book accuracy.

The same way they make Tom Cruz look tall because he's a midget

Well, it says the reason they did that was due to Jackman being taller than the character. Though I'm sure the other actors being short didn't help matters.

It looks like the black bands are electrical power cords. He has a faint trace of a wire under his mask above the eyes.

Originally, they had considered Danny DeVito for the role of Wolverine based solely on his height. Wolverine is supposed to be a buffed little fireplug of a man.

I'm surprised they haven't put up a new pre-order from Civil War since the film's release. Maybe tonight.

Who knows if they have even had enough time to get him done. They still have not done a Luke from TFA. Perhaps both characters looks were kept a secret. Could be a while before we see either.

Tom Hardy for the next Wolverine! :lecture

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

I'd considered Jon Bernthal for Wolverine before he was cast as the Punisher.

Man I hope not, I really want to PO Spidey ASAP!

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

I hope they create a new body to reflect his body type in this movie. He was even thinner than Garfield's SM.
