Re: Spud's Customs

Well here's a quick throw together of my Endor Leia. Still quite a bit of futzing and some painting to do though.

Eventually I want to save up and get a Leia sculpt from eBay from slave Leia and alter it by removing the hair from the back and seeing if I can get the braids and the buns off the Hasbro figure because really they are quite good. After getting it all situated the head just looks way too big. Then all three of my Leia figures will have that amazing sculpt.

Re: Spud's Customs

Also got this guy. Yavin rebel 1 of 2. I know the belt isn't accurate but I just threw it on him for now. Still toying with the idea of somehow shaving off the visor area of the helmet. But then again I may just leave it alone. Hope you guys like him. :D

I'm still waiting on part of the uniform for the other Yavin rebel, but just note he is not the same as this guy.

Re: Spud's Customs

I like the Leia Spud. I think it will look good with your changes.

Let me know if you still need that belt.

Re: Spud's Customs

Thanks man, yeah I've got quite a bit saved up in eBay bucks that will cash out in October that will lessen the sting of the purchase. haha

I'll send you a PM on the belt.

Re: Spud's Customs

Very Cool.

What's the story on that jumpsuit on your Rebel Tech, Spud? I've been looking around for one for a project & like how that one looks.

Re: Spud's Customs

I got it from eBay while searching for tan flight suit and tan jump suit. It was listed as "1:6 Dragon Tan Flight Suit for 12" DiD BBI Marine Pilot Recon Helicopter BHD."

Have you checked out the tan pixie suit from the Dragon Terry Davies figure? I've got that and the camo version for my Brit Tankers. Too bad the Dragon Firefly in MIA....

Re: Spud's Customs

Yeah the Terry Davies one was what I was originally going to go with but I didn't like the collar. Which I could have painted, but the pockets are more accurate too.

Re: Spud's Customs

The AT-ST pilot is progressing nicely. Had to convert a Snowtrooper helmet for his bucket. Still needs a bit of work.

Totally awesome !!! :clap Could you please issue a more detailed description for the helmet conversion? Maybe I´ll have to do it some day for a customized Endor Han ...

Re: Spud's Customs

Thanks guys! Means a lot! :D

@ OFC, sure thing man. I'll get a few pictures for ya.
@ Nate, yeah haha I got him down last night because I was finally going to get the senate logo you sent me painted on his shoulder armor but the AT-ST driver was calling my name. haha

Re: Spud's Customs

Rough sketch of Fox's shoulder logo. Hopefully I can get it painted up tomorrow.

And at the request of OneFigureCollector here's some more detailed shots of my custom AT-ST helmet made from a Snowtrooper helmet.

After tearing out the face cover, I just popped the eye piece out and shaved it down a bit with an exacto knife. Then the dremel comes in. For the post I tried going down along the sides but it kept jumping off and hitting the inside of the helmet which was making me nervous. So I put the circular cutting bit down into the inside of the head post and cut around the inside circumference. Then there's a rubber lining that you can cut out with a razor blade and then put the bit down in the inside again and got far enough down to sit on top of the head. You also have to take the demel to the sides where the face cover was attached.

Next was the raised rim around the edge of the helmet.

I took a bit of stereo wire looking to take the rubber cover off of it and use it to slip over the edge of the helmet.

I shaved off one side of the rubber covering and then removed the wire. Then just fit this around the edge of the helmet and painted it as demonstrated in this last pic.

Hope this helps to any of you that want to make one of these. I love the way it came out. :D

Re: Spud's Customs

The AT-ST helmet looks good man. The stereo wire is a nice touch. I have used the same stuff on some of my customs, works well with this scale.

I also like the tan jumpsuit used for the Yavin Rebel tech. I think a jumpsuit like that would work well for Tzizvvt, the "Cantina Bar Fly".

Thanks man. It means a lot coming from a guy with your skill set. Your Cantina aliens are amazing. I learned to use a lot of random outside materials like that when I worked on my Avatar figure customs, which I really want to get back into doing (they're a lot cheaper, haha). Just as an example, the Neytiri that's in my signature has a top made completely out of copper wire from a tiny motor spool. Same with the Ikran leader.

I've got to say that it has been really fun kind of getting off the clone track of customizing and getting more into individualized character customizations. That's not to say that I don't consider the clones to be individualized as it relates to their different paint schemes, but its fun tracking down cool head sculpts.
I've still got some work to do on the AT-ST driver and then I've got 5 more rebels that I haven't revealed quite yet because I'm waiting on little pieces for most of them. I will say that two of them are Battlefront themed. Which makes getting them weapons kind of challenging. Unless someone has an IG-88 long blaster that they don't want. ;)

I've got ideas for two more clones but the lack of a Commander Cody phase II visor has stopped that project dead in the water. I'm seriously considering looking into casting because that could also solve my IG-88 blaster dilemma.

Re: Spud's Customs

I put together one of my rebels tonight and I'm pleased with the result. This is based off the heavy trooper from Star Wars Battlefront. Now I just need to work up the correct rocket launcher.

And then one of my other Yavin rebels is pretty basic. Just a Fleet trooper minus the pistol belt and he is sporting a hat instead of his helmet.
