No no no no... I mean the ORIGINAL ending, it never survied to the theatre. In pre-screenings of Jedi, Lando Dies. This did not go over well with test auidences, so the ending was chanced. but i the original version, Lando Died a hero. But like the toshi station footage, it never made it into a released version.

these two scens from the scrip were fortelling land's death.
54 INT HEADQUARTERS FRIGATE - MAIN DOCKING BAY 54

The Millennium Falcon rests beyond the stolen IMPERIAL SHUTTLE,
which looks anomalous among all the Rebel ships in the vast
docking bay. Chewie barks a final farewell to Lando and leads
Artoo and Threepio up the shuttle, crowded now with the Rebel
strike team loading weapons and supplies. Lando turns to face
Han. Luke and Leia have said their good-byes and start up the
ramp.

HAN
Look. I want you to take her. I mean it. Take
her. You need all the help you can get. She's
the fastest ship in the fleet.

LANDO
All right, old buddy. You know, I know what
she means to you. I'll take good care of her.
She-she won't get a scratch. All right?

HAN (looks at him warmly)
Right. I got your promise now. Not a scratch.

LANDO
Look, would you get going, you pirate.

Han and Lando pause, then exchange salutes.

LANDO
Good luck.

HAN
You, too.

Han goes up the ramp. Lando watches him go and then slowly turns
away.

55 INT IMPERIAL SHUTTLE - COCKPIT 55

Luke is working on a back control panel as Han comes in and takes
the pilot's seat. Chewie, in the seat next to him, is trying to
figure out all the Imperial controls.

HAN
You got her warmed?

LUKE
Yeah, she's comin' up.

Chewie growls a complaint.

HAN
No. I don't think the Empire had Wookiees in
mind when they designed her, Chewie.

Leia comes in from the hold and takes her seat near Luke.

Chewie barks and hits some switches. Han's glance has stuck on
something out the window: the Millennium Falcon. Leia nudges him
gently.

LEIA
Hey, are you awake?

HAN
Yeah, I just got a funny feeling. Like I'm
not gonna see her again.

Chewie, hearing this, stops his activity and looks longingly out
at the Falcon, too. Leia puts a hand on Han's shoulder.

LEIA (softly)
Come on, General, let's move.

Han snaps back to life.

HAN
Right. Chewie, let's see what this piece of
junk can do. Ready, everybody?

LUKE
All set.

THREEPIO
Here we go again.

HAN
All right, hang on.

originaly, Lando never made it out of the death star. It exploded before he could make his escape. TBQH, I'm not sure Wedge makes it out alive either.
Don't get me wrong, but I think I would have liked Lando, the scoundrel, and gambler turned War hero, turned Martyr better than I like the character he ended up as. A lucky Schmuck. I also think It would have made him a stronger character.

Here is a thought, Billy D seems to hate the Lando character, perhaps it's becuse they took his death scene from him?

If he does hate the character, it's probably because it's the only thing he's remembered for. Well, that and Colt 45 commercials.

I'm glad he didn't die at the end. Vader's death and funeral pyre scenes were plenty somber enough.

I always thought that Han Solo line (the premonition about not seeing the Falcon again) sounded out of place. Now I know why.

I TOTALLY agree that Lando should have died. That would have been great.

Yes, Lando dying would have added an extra element of self-sacrifice for a just cause and I would not have had a problem with it.

Having Lando die is pointless. If Han had died, now that would be a punch in the gut, but the audience has the least invested emotionally in Lando compared to the other heroes, so if he dies, it's just an "Oh, that's a shame" moment and ultimately unnecessary.

they should have had him trip over his cape and fall to his death off the bespin landing platform 5 minutes after we met him.

:lol:lol:lol

im kidding.

or am i?

Hey guys, lets get off all this hatin' and enjoy a cold, smooth, always refreshing Colt 45.

Praji Image Thread

Got mine today, and it seems like I'm one of the first! So I took a few pictures.

For personal reasons, this was one of my most anticipated figures and it was pretty exciting to open up the package today.
