Don't get how, if the regular has a run of 1500, once they sell out on the sideshow site to 1500 customers, what's left to supply to other retailers like forbddenplanet and the like?

Some one help?

The key here is that Sideshow doesn't sell things on their website according to an edition size. While it might be true that they sell all "exclusives" through the site only, it is quite common to have a regular item set for a percentage to be sold online and another percentage sold through a store.

The same thing happens with other companies that sell on Sideshow. For example, Bowen sells some stuff through Sideshow, and while Sideshow can list the edition size of each of those items, it doesn't mean that Sideshow was selling all of them. Sideshow may only receive 20 to 50 pieces for a run of 500.

Nice to see a proper ES on a figure.

Although Dave said a figure isn't profitable unless you can sell 3,000, I guess the re-used parts on this one saved a lot of R&D.

They'll do this with multiple stormtrooper and clone trooper repaints as well.

I think I can get my head round that...lol

Cheers

And even sometimes, the run is more than that. Several places list runs as 1000 based on what was released to the U.S. market as companies may allocate a certain amount to be sold in a certain country as well with similar limitations for other countries, but an overall run that's substantially higher.

True, but you didn't answer the question.

No. Not yet anyway. I may get a regular from a dealer, though. Not sure.

Seriously, though... it really, REALLY pisses me off that they're still using the crappy Buck figures. And it's now apparent that any non-armored SW character will be stuck on the outdated 1:6 mannequin even though they've unnecessarily introduced the Prometheus into the DEAD line of all things. Hooray for making no sense!! :duh

I'm still not even on the waitlist even though the figure is sold out and I'm cursed with skipping on limited figures.
I'm holding firm. I'm refusing to pay more than $50 shipped for Obi-Wan, Aayla, Rebel Fleet Trooper, Ki Adi or Captain whatshisname.

We've been through this already. With the floppy joints, it makes perfect sense they'd use the Pro for The Dead. :p

The "floppy joints" of the Prometheus have been very much overblown. I'd still take that figure over the Buck any f'ing day of the week and twice on Sunday. Hell, even if it WAS as floppy as some originally claimed I would prefer it over a base body that is only marginally better than a Hasbro.

Sideshow finally introduces a body that can at least compete with others in the high-end 1:6 market yet they still insist on clinging to the Buck like a baby and his woobie. I just don't get it.

Yea, the only floppy joint my Indy had was neck and that was a easy fix.

Obi should come on it, but i'm not that bothered by it. Now if he was $80 or s, yea.

Big misconception. The body falls out of rigormortis after a bit.

Except that we're talking about fictional Zombie characters... none of which is "floppy". Stiff and oddly gangly bodies work perfectly there.

The DEAD line is the only line where it makes sense to continue using the Buck, so of course Sideshow decides to change to the Pro there. :lol :duh
