I don't think so Dave. The majority of collectors started complaining about the Claire Danes as Galadriel PF from day one and that has never changed. We've seen images of Legolas now since Feb. and other than one person complaining about the likeness, ridiculously suggesting this to be another Sigourney Weaver [ a likeness which SS deliberately tried not to re-create BTW], it's pretty well universally accepted as the best Orlando Bloom ever. And as evidenced from the photo below, clearly with very good reason.

The 'Clare Danes' view was a very limited one and the only real problem with Galadriel was the Maybeline factor, other than that the computer imaging that SS kindly provided showed how close the sculpt was.
WETA made a good job of it and it looks like SS have built on it which is all good.
Hopefully the paint sweatshops get the lovely glint in Leggies eyes and his beautifully manicured nails

I was the guy who posted those computer shots when Galadriel was under attack and I have said all along the biggest problem with that statue is the paint app's. But the Claire Danes view was not limited to to just a few people....not that there's anything wrong with Claire Danes, it's just that I would rather have a PF of her from a movie she was actually in, like Stardust....as opposed to one she wasn't in, like LOTR.

I do think Weta did a good job with their Legolas, but I'd be lying to myself if I thought it was in the same league, accuracy and detail-wise as SS's PF. I don't even think Weta's Legolas compares to the Gimli sculpt on the same statue. That one is spot on.

I think you'll find that's just your opinion. And please, i don't just collect Weta. But let's not get into what Trustey said about arguing over which teenage magazine is better shall we? If i only collected Weta i wouldn't be posting here or on GentleGiant. The PF may look stunning, but as i said it's my opinion that that particular photo of it didn't look like OB. It looked more like Aragorn than anything That's a joke by the way, please don't start posting comparison shots and different photos of Aragorn....

I think the Lego on the Legimarod statue is the best so far. I haven't seen the PF in person so from in-hand expertise, that statue is top quality.

No harm in that comment I think given it's an 'in hand' view and not based on 'pre-production' pictures or first/second hand views of what may well still be a pre-production piece and also the Legimarod piece is excellent all round.

To all those new to buying the PF's (or any other statue/ figure) I would say ;
Don't be taken in by opinions based on pre-production shots. Wait until the figure is out there and the in in-hand reviews start coming in along with the 'average Joe' photo's that are taken to highlight the great/shabby work that makes the particular owner happy/ angry. It's easy to get caught up in negative comments based on very limited info and you might miss out on a very great piece. Everyone is an expert and as such there is is no such thing as the perfect piece to suit everyone!

(In other words: You know what you like and so what if another 'expert' dissagrees?)

I think that's the way to go. How many times has the item in-hand looked so much better? And commenting on the piece when we actually see it for ourselves will stop alot of stupid and ignorant posts where we're just speculating on how it will actually look.

Been there and done that with the 'RED DREAD' on the MO PF

I got caught up in the hype surrounding the initial release without actually seeing the item first but later repented for my sins by rebuilding the first MO I had after smashing it up for the replacement

I'm in the 'costuming and accessory' camp for what the PF's offer so exact likeness is never an issue (unless it is waaaay off!) and Leggies Elven threads should have some camera shy fine detailing as does Galadriels and Gandalfs robes
